Island of Nightmares (Closed!)

Jezebel winced as she was pushed in a seat, pulling her knees to her chest. Fuck.

River nearly jumped as he was shoved into the seat as well. He saw that his hands started to shake. River balled them into fists. It was going to be okay He thought, desperately trying to hold on to that rational side of him, yet he couldn't help but feel like his hands were dipped into a particular red liquid. He wiped them furiously on his pants, despite his hands being clean.

Aeron was placed next to a girl on one side and River in the other. He glanced at the girl who looked like she was ready to jump of the train at any moment, “Hey, it’s gonna be okay.”

"Hey, I'm not your thing!" Zoe snarled as she was pushed in.

"It's not going to be-" The irrational side of River started to shout, but the rational side cut himself off by biting hard on his tongue and he apologized shyly, "I-I'm sorry. Sorry."

“It’s alright, you have every right to feel like this as most…” He stopped himself, “Just, try not to think about it.. which is hard but it might help…”

River wrung his hands and nodded. He just needed to breathe. In. Out. In. Out- River nearly choked at a smell that hit him. A metallic scent. The same scent that covered his office before he was shipped here.

Zoe looked up towards the ceiling and closed her eyes. Calm down, calm down, its not real. You're not going to die, you….
MURDERER!

She immediately regreted it as her eyes snapped open. Zoe started to silently hyperventailte, her confidence now gone.

River looked around at the others, "C-Can you smell it too?" He was starting to sweat, "O-Or is that just m-me?”

Aeron sniffed, “Kind of…” He said quietly, “It’s not just you, don’t worry.”

She hid the bottom half of her face behind her knees, trying her best to look casual. "Guys, please." Although she wasn't sure who she was talking to. She wasn't even sure if she was asking them to stay alive or not hate her

River looked at the shadows and tried to just breathe. Not think. He would not think about the smell, he would not think about the upcoming nightmares, he would not think- River jumped at a distant scream, then tried to chuckle it off as he remarked, “I don’t think I’ll last long.”

“Who knows…this place is strange.” Aeron said, looking out the side of the train and into nothing.

“I wonder if anyone’s tried to escape before,” River whispered as if the mere thought of escape was outlawed.

“Apparently people have tried but never succeeded.”

River tried to focus on the people who were taking this punishment with him rather than the upcoming nightmares. His eyes went to the person on the other side of Aeron, who was clearly having a terrible time just like him. The rational side of him thought it would be nice to try to calm her despite what he felt, "We're gonna get out. Just because it hasn't been done before doesn't mean we can't," River didn't know what he was saying when he said it. The irrational side of him was about to go off on a rant about how that wasn't going to happen, but he shut himself up for the sake of everyone else's fears. And slightly his own.

"There's no way we could get out, I mean, we could try but it would we would most likely fail." Aeron said, the darkness up ahead was growing slightly lighter, but they still had a long way to go. The walls beside them grew smoother, turning more into metal the the jagged rock from before.

River looked down at his feet, yes, they were completely right. There was no way he was getting out of this. This wasn't just a nightmare anymore. River whispered, "I'd rather die trying that be forced to live through it any more.”

River looked at the smooth walls surrounding them. Only just a bit more… Light showered them as the train was brought into harsh sunlight.
