Etta smiled, looking down at the tarnished wood floors before glancing back at Eleanor. She shifted her weight from side to side, tugging at her tight curls as she started to whistle quietly

Eleanor smiled a bit as Bernadette began to whistle. "Aha! I found it!" she declared triumphantly. She held the vial up, and it contained a beigey-colored powder. "Here we are."

Etta cheered a bit, chuckling as she approached the woman. "What shall we do with it? Do I consume it directly, or…" She glanced at a teacup against the wall

Eleanor grinned at Bernadette's gaze. "We're from London, darling. How else would we take it?" She winked and strode over to get her tea-making bundle.

Bernadette laughed, smoothing her blouse and approaching Eleanor's set. "Damn… do you have it all." She chuckled

"I wouldn't be properly British if I didn't," Eleanor teased back. "Here we are…" she began her rigidly specific process of making English tea on a pirate ship.

Bernadette grinned, nodding at the true statement, then watched with awe as Eleanor began to prepare the tea. It was incredibly precise, surprising for a pirate, but nothing less than expected of an ex-princess

Sally saw Neva arrive in the lower deck and quickly folded her map and put it back in her pocket. "Captn what are ya doin here?" She asked a little bit concerned as the captain had very important work to do.

"i just.. need to be around someone. i hate being alone.." she said an put her mug down. her cheeks were flushed a bit as she pulled up a chair to be next to sally.

@RaeYapper

"Oh uh alright." Sally said. She pulled the map from her pocket unfolded it and continued to work on it. It was fine if Neva saw it she thought I can trust her right?

neva watched, " you planning on somewhere?" she asked

After a few moments, there was nothing to do but wait. "Well," Eleanor said, turning to Bernadette, "we have some time to talk while the tea is getting itself ready. Is there anything you'd like me to know about you? Or anything you'd like to know about me?"

Bernadette leaned against the desk, thinking to herself. "I suppose, what drove you to run away?" She asked.

"Shit. I should've known that was coming," Eleanor remarked, shaking her head. "Well, it's not as simple as delusional princess mysteriously leaves without warning and is now dead to the world, which is the story I know my mother is going with. It's much more complicated than that. My mother is a tyrannical cynic. Most of the country has no idea. She hides it well, especially in public, but she pulls the strings of everything that happens in courts and Parliament. She has people everywhere. And when I tried to reason with her about some of the things she was letting happen in her country and to her people…" Eleanor's voice trailed off, and wordlessly, she pulled up the sleeve of her blouse. Old bruises marked up and down her forearm along with a jagged cut from her wrist to her elbow. "You musn't tell Neva or Sally or anyone," she whispered. "No one can know."

Bernadette watched with fear, gasping as the woman's wounds were revealed. She started to tear up, her own scars flaring pain across her skin. "Oh god… oh god Eleanor…" She stammered, worried for the pirate. "i wont. I wont, I promise."

Eleanor inhaled steadily, covering the wounds quickly. "It's why I always wear long sleeves," she murmured. "She would grab me without caring if it hurt or not. It's the side of her that only I get to see, quite literally. No one else knows. No one." Eleanor closed her eyes briefly, remembering how isolated her pain was. Now, at least, she was safe and could tell someone what she'd been dealing with.

Etta nodded knowingly, pulling up the sleeves of her own blouse to expose scars from lashings, healing bruises, and a few still tender wounds. "I know how that feels" She whispered understandingly. "Im so sorry."

"Oh my God, Bernadette," Eleanor breathed, reaching towards the wounds but she stopped just before touching them. Her eyes went from concerned to fierce in seconds. "Who did this to you?" she demanded.

Etta backed away a bit, a habit she wasn't fond of. "Just… managers . other workers… nobles." She stammered. "Its really fine. It is."

Eleanor quickly retracted her hand when Bernadette backed away. "I'm sorry, I didn't mean to scare you," she apologized quickly. "But no, it's not bloody fine! How could you say that?"

Etta started to tear up, harsh memories of her bosses scolding her running rampant through her mind. "Im sorry! Im sorry please forgive me!" She blurted, covering her face as she retreated furthter

Eleanor backed up quickly. "Oh gods, I'm so sorry… Please don't apologize to me, you have nothing to apologize for." Her fingers trembled. Damn, you had your chance to get close to her and you messed it up, Eleanor.

Etta started to sob, sinking to the floor as she curled up, shaking her head with embarrassment. “Oh god… oh god Eleanor I’m so sorry…”

Hesitantly, Eleanor approached her. "Darling, it's alright," she murmured, kneeling to her level. "I understand, it's alright…"

Bernadette sniffed, too nervous to look up. She had made a complete fool of herself, like she always did. Etta simply stayed silent, rubbing the tears from her eyes as she tried to stumble back to her feet
