Her cheeks always look slightly flushed, as she has been out in the sun, and she has a round face. She is very short at about 5’ 2”, and has a lithe build. Her skin is fair and she has freckles across her nose and cheeks and on her shoulders. She always has a lot of energy. She smiles a lot. Looks almost like a porcelain doll, except for how much energy she constantly has.
Appearance as animal: A small, toffee brown squirrel (her fur color as a squirrel is the same as her human hair color) with big, brown eyes.
Outfit: Likes oversized t-shirts and sweaters, as well as ripped jeans. She also loves boots, especially knee highs.
Personality: Energetic, friendly, outgoing. She isn’t always knowledgeable about common sense but is very clever and loves to joke around. She is the life of the party and never backs down from a challenge. Maple is a bit of a daredevil and very competitive. She is usually in good spirits and always full of ideas.

Appearance as human: Alton is a short dude, about 5'1" or such, with messy jet black hair and a slightly caucasian face, although his skin tone is pale. Alton is quite muscular despite his short stature, and his eyes are a dark brown and almond-shaped on his ovular face. A few dark brown/black freckles dot the right side of his face, which is unusual.
Appearance as an animal: Small for even a mouse, the mouse has easily identifiable jet black fur and an extremely light pink nose and set of whiskers and claws, which is a stark contrast against the sleek darkness.
Outfit: Alton usually wears shirts with no sleeves and jeans, although he can sometimes settle for a turtleneck on fancy occasions. The jeans are often ripped and he likes to wear old sneakers.
Personality: Alton is very upbeat and energetic, and doesn't like to stop and ponder things, which sometimes works to his disadvantage. Alton is very impulsive yet caring and will do anything to help out a friend and yet is an introvert, so he can sometimes be quite shy.

As soon as the bus dropped Alton off from school and was out of sight, he ran towards the edge of the sewer by his house and transformed into the jet black mouse. He was going to take the safer way to the woods.

Maple got off her bike and chained it to a bike rack before walking into the school. She fingered her necklace, a habit of hers, and tried to find someone she knew in the crowd. Her long hair was in a high ponytail, going down her back like a wave of melted toffee as she walked, adeptly weaving in and out of the crowd.

The strange mouse skittered through the sewers, occasionally stopping to sniff things, and eventually came out into the light of a crowd. Well, frick…this is not where I'm supposed to be…but the woods are right across the plaza… Alton decided to skirt through the crowd without being stepped on.

Maple felt something near her feet, and paused mid-step. She glanced down to see a small, black mouse. That’s an unusual fur color, she thought. She wondered if it was one of her classmates. Not wanting to turn into a squirrel in public, she bent down near the mouse. “Hi,” she said cheerfully. “Have we met?” Then she realized she might look a little bit crazy; maybe she should have just transformed instead.
Alton looked up and squeaked, shaking his little mouse head.
