“Don’t call me an idiot!” Luciana huffed, “You literally did not know strawberries weren't a berry until 8th grade.”

"Well that's a common misconception cus they're called fRICKIN STRAWBERRIES!"

Luciana sighed, “I should’ve brought like a juice box or something.”

"Lucy, are you sure you want to date this guy? He seems like a. . . cherry coke that's high on cat fur." Willow put her arm around Lucy's shoulders.

“I don’t want to date him!” Luciana exclaimed, her face flushing pink, “And that’s a really weird.. simile? Metaphor?”

"I'm a what now?"

Alex was dying of laughter in the background. This conversation was utterly ridiculous. They got into the dumbwaiter, "See ya suckers!"

"You're not part of this convo, Ellie!" She called out, turning back towards Lucy. "Colty-Bolty, explain to Lucy why Ellie is not suitable."

“Suitable for what?”

"Suitable as a mate."

Alex went up into the attic. They looked around in marvel, "There really are a lot of marbles."

"I told you." Ellis smirked. 'What're they talking about down there?"

"About whether you're suitable for mating," they shrugged.

Ellis squinted. "With who?"

"Lucy," Alex responded.

Ellis blushed and smiled. "Lucy hates my guts so that's a no."

“I’m not an animal!”

Alex laughed slightly, "You sure about that? Because she was really blushing down there."

"Yes. I'm sure. You'd be blushing too if all your friends were teasing you about a crush."

"Humans are animals, Lucy-Friend." Willow patted Lucy's head and smiled.

“Okay that’s a good point but liKE NO.”

Alex smirked, "That's why I would never tell anyone about it. And try my hardest not to show any interest at all. While secretly screaming every time they talk to me."

"Yeah right. In my dreams." He paused. "No wait in your dreams." Shoot…

She crossed her tattooed arms and sighed, shaking her head, flowers falling onto the ground. "Mating is a good choice of a word. Unless you would prefer something else. What do they call it? Attraction?"

Alex raised an eyebrow, "Hm? Does little Ellie have a crush on someone? And can't keep it a secret?"

“… I’m like pretty sure that’s what most of the world calls it but you do you, Willio.” Luciana shrugged.

"I always do me." Willow's bright eyes sparkled. "Anyways, I'm off to join the party." She got into the dumbwaiter and pulled herself up.
