Magic. Pirates. Oh My! (CLOSED)

"Pearl?" Luna asked glancing over the port side. She pulled her own spyglass, even though she had gotten quite good at seeing distances without it. Her frown grew as she pulled it away, the ship definitely bore the crest of Pearl on it, "What are they doing here in Ruby? The only reason they would be here is if they were dropping criminals off, but Pearl doesn't do that. Unless they're here to buy wares, but what wares?"

“Corn, perhaps?” Emery had read that Ruby was a big supplier of corn, despite its reputation suggesting otherwise. “But it’s not in season this time of year…” they trailed off. Then their brow furrowed. “And that’s assuming they are, in fact, Pearl merchants… right?”
They spiraled into their own thoughts. Despite the the Pearl crest right in front of them, Emery couldn’t help wondering. Did a group of criminals take over a Pearl ship? If so, they didn’t want to show it. Or is it possible Pearl has a secret alliance with Ruby?
Emery shook their head. We don’t know anything, they thought. all we can see is Pearl ship. I can’t freak out now, being so close to Port Minith.

“I know a few ballads,” Bastien added. “I can’t wait to figure out who we’re inviting, because my ballad singing is legendary.” He winked again.

"As legendary as mine, is the question." she joked, walking alongside him springing in her steps. "But honestly, thanks for doing this with me."

"I suppose it could be possible that Ruby took over a Pearl ship, but typically they are quick to change banners. Unless Ruby just 'acquired' the ship, the banner should be changed," Luna thought long and hard for a moment. She eventually shook her head as she let out a sigh, "Perhaps the ship needed to make an emergency stop and Port Minith was the closest to their location. That's probably the case, but we should be careful either way."

“Of course!” Bastien grinned again. “It’d be harder to get me not to join in a secret party than not. Now let’s see who all wants to join us and won’t snitch to Luna.”

"Only if Luna doesn't catch us first. She's right over there!" Min pointed, bouncing on her toes a bit. "What is she doing with Emery though? What are they talking about that's so important?" she wondered, not quite noticing the Pearl ship docking at Ruby's harbor.

Bastien noticed the ship before she did. “I think it has to do with that ship?” he said, unsure. “Probably. Think Emery would snitch on us?”

"Tori, what do you think about the Pearl ship?" Luna looked over to Tori as she asked the question. She had spotted Bastien and Min arrive on deck, but she had other problems to worry about.

"Of course, that was the plan," Luna agreed as she gave a slight nod. She did a quick gesture out to the main deck over towards Bastien and Min, "And if we need to deal with it then we will deal with it when it comes time. Now… What do you think those two are up to?"

(She knooows.)

"It's fifty-fifty on that one of I'm being honest." she shrugged, shying away as the Captain spotted them both. She knew Luna would know something was up because Luna was annoying like that despite the fact that Min cared a whole lot and shouldn't have bad opinions of her basically-family.

“Hmm, so is the risk worth it?” Bastien asked, looking back over at Luna and Tori to see them looking at him and Min. “Oh shit, they’re looking at us. We need to come up with a convincing lie before they get suspicious.”

"We were coming up for fresh air and they don't need to know any different." Min nodded, rocking on her heels innocently. "Also, don't swear, please, I know we're sailors but really." she added.

“You’ve never heard the expression ‘cursing like a sailor’?” Bastien teased. He considered for a moment. “But if you makes you uncomfortable, I won’t curse around you.”

"No, you're fine, I just… my family was a little bit overkill in trying to shelter me. Life in Pearl, you know? I kinda knew what was going on in the outside world but never like this, honestly." she shrugged. "It's so huge."

Bastien folded his arms. “We had completely different childhoods,” he muttered humorously. “So it exciting to be out in the world, traveling and everything?”

"Yeah, really. I'm so glad I can be part of this crew, after everything." she sighed, a sad smile crossing her face. "This has just been amazing,"

“It really has,” agreed Bastien with a similar smile. “There’s no crew I’d rather be part of. But seriously, I’m ready to party!” He did a little shimmy as he said it, chuckling at himself.

Emery had noticed Min and Bastien from the moment they murmured their name. But they kept their gaze ahead of them, and on the Pearl ship. They wanted to believe that they could avoid it altogether, especially considering the distance and that she (the pirate’s ship) was smaller than it. But after all these years, Emery knew you could never be too prepared. They tried to keep the gap between them wide, their hands gripping the wheel. They were vaguely aware of Min, Bastien, Tori, and Luna.

Luna looked over to Emery and asked the same question she had asked to Tori, "Well, what about you? What do you think Min and Bastien are up to?"

Bastien glanced over at the others before looking back at Min. “Abort mission!” he hissed. “Emery is on Luna and Tori’s side. We should go look for Archer or Shawn. At least one of them will have to join the party!”

"I would, but they seem to be scared of me," Luna replied with a slight frown as she looked at them. She eventually let it up and shrugged, "No idea why. If they want to talk to me about something I'd be more than happy to hear them out."

Bastien glanced over at the others before looking back at Min. “Abort mission!” he hissed. “Emery is on Luna and Tori’s side. We should go look for Archer or Shawn. At least one of them will have to join the party!”

"Sounds like a plan. We can split up and meet back in the kitchen once we find either of them or fail to find them in say… an hour? Yeah, an hour sounds good." she smiled, running off to look for either Shawn or Archer.

Bastien nodded after her with a grin, turning to give Luna, Tori, and Emery a friendly wave before going below decks. In all honesty, while everyone on the ship could be intimidating at times, Luna always intimidated Bastien. It was probably just because she was the captain, though. What other reason would there be? He went to look for either Archer or Shawn.

Emery started. “What? What did you say?” Then they noticed Min and Bastien going below decks. “They’re probably going to do something fun, stupid, or both, if we’re being honest.”

"Most likely, do you want to go down and ask them what they're planning?" Luna asked Emery before looking back to where Min and Bastien had been. She shook her head a little, "And they're gone. I suppose I should go after them before they end up hurting themselves."
