"You too," Valerie responded, opening her door. Her pale blue eyes swept over the room, and she picked up her sweater from the floor and set it down on the couch. She set the dragon down softly on the sweater. She hadn't realized she forgot to close the door.

When she looked over to close it she saw her neighbor's door close with a snap. It was impossible to tell what she saw.
