Marla quickly turned to face her girlfriend. “Hey, it’s fine, I’m fine,” she assured her quickly, forcing the last of her distress to disappear from her expression.

Gwen turned to Marla with an almost pouty expression, her ears drooping. “I don’t like yelling at people.” She mumbled softly.

They guy, having drunkenly stumbled away, gave Marla one last look before exiting the restaurant.

“I’m sorry you had to do that,” she murmured, tugging Gwen forward into a hug.

“Cuddles are a good payment.” Gwen hugged Marla back without hesitation. Her ears perked up. “I mostly feel bad for the flowers…”

“I’m sure they’ll be fine..” she murmured comfortingly, shedding the last of the distress.

“Remind me to check on them before we leave.” Gwen murmured, in the process of hiding her face by Marla’s shoulder again.

"Will do," Marla promised, beginning to carefully stroke Gwen's hair. "You okay?"

“I think I scared myself more than him.” Gwen admitted, her face turning red.

Marla gave Gwen a tight squeeze. "You scared me a little, too."

“I’m sorry, Princess. I didn’t mean to scare you.” She relaxed when Marla squeezed her, sighing peacefully.

"Hey, it's fine," she reassured Gwen, pulling back slightly. "Don't worry about it."

“I told you I’m a beast.” Gwen smiled, somewhat playfully. Guilt still pooled in her stomach, making the elf uneasy.

Marla laughed quietly, brushing hair away form her girlfriend's forehead. "Right, how could I forget?"

“Who gets drunk this early anyways? Gross.” Gwen muttered, still shaken up.

“I… don’t know…” Marla sighed, dragging a hand through her hair. “College frat boys?”

“True. Still gross.” Gwen’s ears flicked disdainfully.

A smile split Marla’s face. “I love it when you do that thing, that thing with your ears.”

“What thing?” Her ears tilted back inquisitively.

“That thing.” Marla was all of a sudden grinning broadly. “It’s adorable.”

Gwen blushed, her ears tilting back even farther. “My ears?”

“Oh my god, you’re doing it again!” Marla laughed, reaching out to touch the tip of Gwen’s ear.

“I can’t control it. It’s like… gesturing with your hands.” Gwen smiled bashfully, trying to refrain from moving her ears.

"Don't try to control it, it's adorable." Marla leaned forward to kiss her girlfriend's cheek, grinning.

“You’re not allowed to be this cute right now.” Gwen grinned, playfully pushed Marla away. “It’s illegal.”

"I'm the one being cute?" Marla protested, leaning in again.

“Positively adorable.” Gwen smirked, her ears perking back up.

Marla buried her face in her hands, beaming. "Ahh, you're doing the thing again, oh my god.."

Gwen covered her ears with her hands, throughly embarrassed. “Sorry, Princess!”

"Don't apologize," she laughed. "Sorry. You're just too cute to bear right now."

Gwen groaned, trying to cover her ears and face at the same time. “This is unfair.” She whined softly.
