Lucian hummed in response to the first part. “I think that I might just get something small, like a salad,” he said slowly. “And you?” He was never allowed to eat junk foods or much things like that, so he was used to eating this sort of thing.
Morrigan hadn't really been planning to eat until he came along, and she found herself scrambling for an answer. "I don't know yet, something simple, maybe a soup."
A light one. Which means no dinner tonight.

“Ah, sounds good,” Lucian hummed with a slow nod of his head. Eventually they reached the building, and he opened the door for Morrigan with a friendly smile.
“Thanks,” she told him, relaxing slightly as they entered the building— only to realize just how busy it was today. Bodies left and right, people chatting, shouting, laughing; the clamour built up in her head until it was almost unbearable.

Lucian gave a hum in response to her thanks. He stepped aside, moving to put his bag down in an empty seat before taking out his wallet. He stepped back over towards Morrigan to get in line.
They filed in with the rest of the throng, Morrigan's heart rate accelerating the closer she got to other people. Bodies pressed close, making her breath hitch and her palms begin to sweat. She jumped whenever somebody accidentally bumped into her.

Lucian had noticed Morrigan flinch and could hear her breath hitch. “Are you okay?” He asked, but could assume what was wrong. He was going to be a doctor, he had a feeling that it was some form of anxiety. “How about you go sit down? I can grab your food for you,” he offered.
Morrigan felt like slapping herself across the face. She must have repulsed him with her weird behaviour— he wanted to get away from her. But the temptation of a moment of solace, away from this chaos, was too sweet to resist. “Are you sure?”

“I’m positive. Go sit down, try to breathe,” Lucian responded with a nod of his head. He didn’t mind getting Morrigan’s food and paying for it. It was just soup, not expensive at all.
Morrigan hesitated, before nodding and slipping away, between the bodies, between the laughing and shouting and squirming bodies, back to the safety of their table. Finally able to breathe, she sat down, harshly reprimanding herself for her stupidity.

After a few minutes, Lucian walked back over to the table with their food. He set down her soup in front of her on the table before sitting down and setting his food down as well. “Feeling any better?” He asked, thinking that he may have already mentally diagnosed her.
Morrigan was already fishing around in her handbag for her wallet to pay him back, shaking her hair over her face to hide her clenched jaw and determined expression. "Hm? Yeah, thanks. The heat got to me, I think. How much was the soup?"

Lucian gave a slow nod in response. He thought now that she was lying, but he wouldn’t pressure her. He knew well not to do that. He raised a hand to stop her. “No need to pay me back. It was only soup, I was more than happy to pay,” he hummed.
Morrigan's eyes widened slightly, her hand pausing halfway out of the bag. She lifted it up, holding up a wad of bills. "No, I insist. Thank you for the soup."

“Morrigan really,” Lucian said with a slight chuckle. “It was only a couple dollars, no big deal. You don’t need to pay me back, honestly,” he added.
Hesitantly, Morrigan returned the money to her purse. “If you’re sure..”

Lucian gave a nod of his head. “I am completely sure,” he hummed and gave her a friendly smile. He shifted where he sat, and began to eat his own food.
Morrigan unpackaged her spoon from its plastic wrapping, dipping it into her warm broth and taking a small sip. It was surprisingly good, her experience with the food at the university had been… limited, to say the least.

Lucian took out his fork and stuck it into his salad before bringing it to his mouth to eat. After chewing and swallowing he spoke up. “This actually isn’t terrible,” he chuckled.
Morrigan forced a genuine-looking smile, taking another tiny sip from her spoon. “Yeah, it’s actually pretty good.”

“M’hm,” Lucian hummed in agreement with a smile on his lips. He continued to eat, fingers tapping on the table lightly as he did so.
After a pause, Morrigan scrambled to find a topic of conversation. "What kind of doctor would you want to be? It must have slipped my mind."

“Oh, I didn’t tell you that. I am hoping to be a neurologist. But I don’t know, I could go into other professions in the medical field, I suppose,” Lucian said.
"That sounds interesting," she commented, surprised at how easily her words came out. "And very difficult. I don't think I could do it."

Lucian smiled softly at that. “I’m sure that you could handle that. You seem like a smart girl,” he hummed. “It’s mainly a lot of anatomy and biology work.”
Smart girl. Morrigan barely kept from shuddering. “Thanks, Lucian, but I’m not sure that’s true…” She smiled slightly. “Biology sounds cool.”

Lucian gave a shrug. “Come on, I’m sure it is. Don’t doubt yourself,” he said before speaking again. “And yeah, it’s pretty interesting.”
Morrigan nodded, finishing off her soup. She then stared down at her empty bowl, realizing how much she'd eaten without noticing, and immediately felt sick. "It- It sounds cool."

Lucian gave Morrigan a friendly smile. He could notice the shift in her tone and demeanor, though. He first assumed that she might be feeling sick. “Are you alright?” He asked.
“Just a bit of a headache,” she told him evenly. “I had a lot of studying to do last night.”
