“Too cliche,” Cato agreed, tears streaming down his face and blurring his freckles. “You’re okay. Stay with me, Dara.”

"Well, I had thought that it would be me holding you in my arms, sobbing like I was mental over your dying hunk of a human. But instead it's me who's dying now." she smiled.

“Nope,” Cato choked out. “You are not dying, Dara. Nope. Not…” he drew in a shaky breath “… not happening.” The ambulance sirens could be heard as the vehicle raced through the streets.

"Well, technically everyone's dying." she said. "Old age, disease, such and such."

“Shut up,” Cato scolded. “They’re here.” The ambulance doors swung open and a team of paramedics rushed out, a stretcher between them.

"I don't 'Shut Up'." she muttered.

“Take care of her,” Cato told the paramedics, stepping back and allowing Dara to be carried into the ambulance. At the last second, he hopped into the back, too.

"Cato, I'm not going to die, you know? You don't have to come along if you don't want to." Dara said, frowning. (Sorry I disappeared!)
