Courtney was waiting for her sister to pick her up from the mall, and scanning the crowds for any suspicious activity as she did so. She'd had her power for about a year now, and she'd become used to checking her surroundings. So far, nothing interesting…
Kitty checked her phone. No response from Bradley yet. She sighed. He was supposed to call her in 3 minutes…

A sudden sound caught Courtney's attention, she she quickly looked to her left. A man was running in her direction, carrying a black purse. Courtney shook her head. This one would be too easy.
I have to time this just right… If he stops to far from me, then I'll have to walk more; if he stops past me, then I'll have to turn around.
She focused and froze time just before he reached her.
Kitty kept walking, staring at her phone and waiting for Bradley to text her. She checked the time. Weird… her clock was stopped at 4:32:55.

Courtney took the purse from the man and looked around for its owner. Seeing movement, she started walking toward it.
There was a person still moving!
"Hey, what are you?" Courtney shouted at the girl.
Kitty looked up and saw that there was a girl shouting at her. She looked around and saw that everything was frozen in time. She quickly pretended to be frozen too, but already knew that she was too late.

"I know you're not frozen," she declared. "I saw you walking just a moment ago."
Kitty flinched when the girl poked her and quickly backed away. "Uh…"
