Halo shuts his eyes, his breathing ragged. He was sickly pale as his body slowly went limp.

Bastian walked onto the ship, though when he looked down at Halo he just about had a heart attack. "Oh god, shit," he swore before setting him down on a table. The boy from before cast them a look before disappearing into the back of the ship. He returned a moment later holding a shallow bowl full of a strange green substance. He offered it to Halo

Halo groans softly, looking at the bowl. He looks at Bastian weakly, trying to breathe.

Bastian took the bowl before gently bringing it to Halo’s lips. “It’s okay, it’s safe,” he murmured

Halo nods, slowly opening his lips, shutting his eyes.

Bastian helped him drink the tasteless liquid, a concerned look on his face

Halo easily let the liquid slide down his throat, coughing a little when he was finished.

"There you go, that's better," Bastian soothed, rubbing at Halo's back before sitting up

Halo whimpers and reaches for Bastain, his eyes shutting.

Bastian took his hand, sitting on the table so he could lay next to him

Halo curls closer to Bastian, shivering a little.

The ship began moving through the river of bodies again, and Bastian couldn't help but shift protectively towards Halo as it started up

Halo curls in on himself, his breathing uneven still.

So what was the liquid for?//

(it's basically a medicine that will help him feel better for now. it's got radiation in it, which helps to sort of make the disease non-lethal)

Bastian held him tightly as the ship ambled slowly through the river, and Bastian did his best to try and soothe Halo

Halo sighs, resting against Bastian tiredly, trembling. He was somewhat feeling better, but pain was running rapid through his body.

"It's okay baby, we'll be okay. You just gotta hold on a little longer, okay?" Bastian soothed, trying to rub at his back

Halo nods, groaning softly as he rests against Bastian.

Eventually what appeared to be a volcano came into view, and Bastian looked up as the ship appeared to climb out of the dry river and onto the damaged cement around it

Halo shuts his eyes, trying to keep calm as he rested next to Bastian.

The ship, which now seemed to be walking, was now ambling towards the distant volcano. Bastian felt a bit nervous as they approached it. He hadn't been to the palace in years

Halo slowly tries to sit up but cries out in pain, holding his side.

Bastian jumped when he heard Halo's cry of pain. "Halo? What is it? Are you okay?" he asked frantically

Halo winces, holding his side. "M-my ribs… or something… I think they broke when I was slammed into the wall."

Bastian’s eyes widened at that. He swore before looking around frantically, trying to find any kind of medical supplies that might help

Halo smiles weakly, "I'll be okay…" He whispers.

“No, you won’t, especially after you got tossed around like that,” Bastian replies as he continued to look for something to help

Halo grabs his arm. "I'll be fine. You need to stop worrying about me so much Bastian." he says sternly.

“I can’t stop, you might be dying and I can’t stop,” Bastian rambled, speaking more to himself than to Halo. He definitely sounded panicked, and the blackness in his veins was returning

Halo grabs his arms and pulls Bastian towards him, wincing as he does so. "Bastain. Calm down."

Bastian flinched a bit when Halo grabbed him and pulled him towards him. "I'm sorry, this is my fault, I should have protected you," he choked out
