The guard frowned, and she recognized him as Alfred Bowing. “There have been some….. new developments Princess.”, he said uncertainly, not using her title, or what she thought was her title. Her brow was furrowed in confusion. “Pardon?”

"New developments? Has someone else taken over? Is there a new form of government?" Cade tried to sound as respectable and snooty as he could.

“Ah… the, um, claimed daughter of Queen Alice, Willow, has taken the throne. Blood tests are being run right now.”
“Willow?!” On any other circumstances Scarlet would’ve been happy, but Willow wasn’t….. sane, exactly.
“Ah, yes,” he said awkwardly.

"But…Willow isn't related to Alice." Cade looked around, confused.

Scarlet swallowed. “She is.”, Alfred told them. “The daughter between Alice and Kajareste. Also, she is older than you, Orincess Scarlet, which makes her the Queen.”

He couldn't fully process what was going on. Cade turned to Scarlet. "We have to ask Willow what happened. She wouldn't want to be Queen, would she?"
“I— I have no idea.”, she stuttered. Alfred frowned. “You know her, Princess?” Scarlet nodded. “It’s a long story. Also…. Queen Willow is…. a bit…”

"..Insane." Cade finished for her, peering over the guard's shoulder to see if he could spot Willow from their position.
Alfred was taken aback. “Pardon?”

"She's insane. I don't know exactly what happened to her, but she's not the same Willow as before."
Alfred coughed. “It is not my place to be discussing the Queen.” He turned to Scarlet. “Who is this gentleman? The young chap your mother was trying to marry you off to?” He knew her well, which is why he was joking informally.

He felt his face turn a little pink. "No, no that's not me." Cade was about to give away his name, but decided it wouldn't be best.
“He’s a friend., Scarlet told Alfred awkwardly. Alfred winked, but immediately became somber. “You two follow me, it’s time to meet the Queen.”

Cade adjusted his suit jacket, suddenly very nervous about what would happen next. He followed the guard inside the castle grounds.
Alfred led them to the throne room. Scarlet was split between being sad that she was back, and hopelessly confused.

Cade looked around at the castle in awe. He hadn't been able to fully enjoy it during the ball, but now that he wasn't stressing out too much he stared at in in disbelief. "Woah…I didn't know ceilings could get this high."
Scarlet nodded distractedly, palms sweating.

"Where is Wi-the Queen?" Cade asked the guard, still looking around the room. It took all his willpower to continue to follow and not run around the castle freely.

Willow handed Chelsea a fork and headed out to a balcony, so she could watch the sky and be alone. Unfortunately, she was interrupted by a guard.
"Queen Willow, there's something you need to know. Scarlet is in the palace." he was a cute guard, with blond hair and green eyes.
Willow shook the thought from her head and nodded, letting him take her hand and lead her to where Scarlet was.

Cade spotted Willow approaching them. "Wow…uh….nice dress?"
Willow waved at Cade, "Thank you."

He wasn't sure what to say anymore. "So…this whole Queen thing…you really want to be Queen?"
"Why wouldn't I?" she descended the spiral staircase with the guard behind her. "You can stay if you want. I'll provide rooms."
"She's insane. I don't know exactly what happened to her, but she's not the same Willow as before."
He didn't even know Willow before. Only Chelsea did.
