Running Scared
James stood up and with unnatural speed moved so he was in front of her before she could get very far, “You’re comparing me to your brother, someone I can only suppose is the devil himself? My dear, I may not pay much attention to you after we would wed, but I would certainly not hurt you intentionally. You would still be welcome to stay here in the castle with me and have food, company, whatever else you want provided for you. Is that treating you like garbage?”
" I don't want that I want love and compassion I don't care if we're mates or not I will not marry you" she said " Thank you for the hospitality but I'll be leaving now" she said walking around him
James reached out and grabbed her wrist. The grip was firm enough that she couldn’t slip out of it, but it was gentle enough not to hurt her. When he spoke his voice was cold and had an edge to it, “That wouldn’t be a good idea. My proposal was the first thing I wanted to talk about, the second involves what it took to keep you alive yesterday and how it’s going to effect you from this point on. Don’t you want to know what I have to say about that?”
She looked at him "No you didn't" her eyes welled up with tears as she spoke " tell me you didn't" she said tears now running down her face
“Quincy tried her best to not have it come down to that, but there was no other option,” James told her still keeping his grip on her wrist. Her tears caused his chest to ache and he pushed the feeling down as he said in possibly the softest most empathetic voice he could muster, “I’m sorry.”
She slid down to the floor sobbing, bawling her eyes out she never wanted this she wanted to be a human not one of the supernatural the thing that killed her father
James let go of her wrist and stood there. Awkwardly. He didn’t know whether to comfort the girl or not. So he, the king of the vampires, stood awkwardly next to the bawling girl silently hoping that Quincy would come and know what to do.
She cried and cried " No No No" she cried shaking her head " im so sorry Dad" she sobbed out
(I think Rebecca really hates this Vampire thing and she gets really depressed and despite everything James is really worried but not just because if she dies he'll lose his power because she refused to feed and so she gets really weak and it turns out she's not actually a vampire she's just had this horrible reaction and it didn't turn her it just made her really sick but maybe she doesn't turn because because she had an illness no one knew about that made her immune and the bite made it worse)
(I what? If you don’t want her to turn into a vampire, just say so. We can go back and not have that happen.)

James stayed silent letting her cry it out. He never knew what it was like to be turned having been born a vampire, but he had heard stories about those that had. At the very least she still had a few more weeks before the turning came in full force, she would be human for now. Maybe he should tell her that…
Once her crying went down she spoke "I'll marry you but I have some conditions" she said, sniffling as she looked up at him with red and puffy eyes
James was, surprised at that. He stayed stoic as he offered a hand to help her up, "Of course, what are they?"
She used his hand to help her stand up " first of all I would like some clothes and I would also like to be able to leave " she said " I can't be cooped up here all the time" she said
"I had already planned on providing you clothes," James told her as he studied her for a moment, "I can also allow you to leave whenever you wish, as long as you can prove to me you are able to defend yourself and you promise to return to the castle."
" I will return and I will not venture far " she said giving a small sigh " now if you don't mind I would like to be left alone for a few hours to process" she said
"Very well, feel free to call for either Quincy, myself, or any of my staff if you need anything," James told her letting go of her hand and stepping back.
She wiped the tears from her eyes away and turned going back to her bedroom closing the door she slid down the door crying
James watched her leave before going back to his own room. He needed to rest since he hadn't had much time to do anything but work.
She layed her head back against the door crying herself to sleep

Rebecca woke up to a loud noise, it was a knock on her foot she rubbed her eyes and yawned before standing up and opening the door to her bedroom to see who was knocking
Quincy was standing outside of Rebecca's door with a soft smile on. She would have come sooner, but James didn't tell her about what happened until later in the evening. Quincy had been respectable and waited until morning to talk to Becca.
