“You don't have to if you don't want to.” he assured her. “There's other good options here too.”

"It's okay I'm sure it'll be fine. She took a breath before popping the calamari into her mouth and chewing on it

Marcus didn't stop her and just watched as he grabbed a piece of the coconut shrimp.

"Um it's okay? I don't know how to explain it. "

He nodded. “I know what you mean. It has a unique texture.”

"It's definitely no my favorite thing but it's not horrible. " she said laughing a little

He nodded again. “Well, to each their own.” he laughed with her.

" and I'm assuming that's a lobster. "

“Mhm. That's a lobster. And those are crab legs. I guess they chose to switch the crab cakes out for those.” he shrugged.

"What the hell is a crab cake? "

Marcus raised a brow at the question. He thought that basic seafood stuff was known worldwide. “It's crab meat shredded and cut, formed into a burger shape with other ingredients and seasonings. I think it's either fried or baked but it's pretty good.” he told her.

"I tend to keep away fried food like thatso I don't really know what it is. " she said laughing nervously and rubbed the back of her neck

“Ah!” he chuckled. “That's fair. I guess America is pretty popular for frying a lot of different foods.” he acknowledged.

"Yes I've heard about that." she said laughing

“Yeah.” he laughed softly, feeling a little embarrassed that that was what was well known about American cooking. “I want to say that there's more to it than just fried foods but I can't think of anything else right now.” he admitted.

"Oh I know that don't worry. " she said smiling

“Good. I’m glad to hear that.” he smiled back, relieved.

"So how exactly do eat crab legs? "

“Here. I’ll show you.” he said since he thought it would be easier than trying to explain it. He picked up a leg and a metal cracker. “You’ll need one of these to break the shell so you can get to the meat.” he informed as he placed the leg in the jaws and squeezed firmly which caused the hard shell to crack. Marcus gave a satisfied smile as he pulled some of the meat out with a fork. “It tastes the best when you dip it in the melted butter.”

"Huh that's interesting." she said watching Marcus crack the shell smiling a bit

Marcus smiled back. “Another little trick is if you don't have these nifty crackers, you can slide a tine of your fork down the edge and create a seam.” he said as he offered the fork with crab meat to her.

She took the fork gently and looked up at Marcus " I take it you've had this quite q bit? "

“I guess you could say that. I've definitely had seafood on more than one occasion.” he shrugged. “Living this close to the water, it's pretty common.”

"Sounds nice actually. " Maria brought the piece to her mouth and tried it

“I think it is.” he agreed with a smile. “Though you do get used to it after a while.”

"Okay so I like crab. " she said laughing

“Good.” Marcus grinned. “Here, you can have the rest of this leg and I’ll have the calamari.”

"Are you sure? "

“Yeah, I'm sure.” he nodded. “There's more than one leg and this way you don't have to break so much of the shell.” he assured her.

"Well thank you. " she said smiling a little and taking another bite
