"Good." Ellis cleared his throat. "How are things looking Mari?"

"So far so good, Captain." She triple-checked the stats.

"Thanks dear-" Ellis closed his mouth. YOU IDIOT!

"huehuehue." Gaia laughed. "I ship it."

"Y-you're welcome." AGAIN? DEAR GOD ELLIS DO YOU REALLY WANT ME TO DIE OF A HEART ATTACK. Mari bit her lip, wondering if she should say more. Address the dear. "I uh, I mean-you-I just-dear?"

Ellis sighed and blushed harder. "Are you okay?"

What do I say? Do I say it back to make him feel less awkward? I want to say it back. No! Don't! That'd be weird. He doesn't actually mean it, but you do! You actually like him. Mari sighed, rubbing her temples. Gonna say it. No! I'm going to do it. Stop! No. "I'm doing just fine. Dear."

"Where's Rudolph?" Gaia asked, laughing.

Ellis blinked. Did I just hear what I think I heard with my own two ears holy moly. "O-Okay just….just checking…"

"Uh-huh." I'm such an idiot. What did I expect? For him to confess his love? Pfft. She swung her legs on top of the desk and buried her face in her hands.

Ellis cleared his throat. "10 minutes to landing."

Mariko nodded. "Sounds good. We're still buying me a new hat, right?" Don't say dear. Don't say it. Don't say it, Ellis.

"Yes love." FRICKING HELL WHAT IS WRONG WITH YOU DO YOU WISH FOR DEATH?

Well. At least he didn't say dear. She could barely manage words. "Okay. By the way, don't think I'm letting this go. We're going to talk about it when we go to Crossakiel." She was probably going to blush furiously and ask him about it nonchalantly, trying not to seem obvious.

"Okay fine." Yes, yell at me. I am a disaster.

Ellis, do you. . . love me? I love you. The scene played out in her head, too good to be true. Mari couldn't ruin her relationship with Ellis. She just couldn't. Clearing her throat, she asked, "How much longer now?"

"8 minutes. I think Seth and Ellen should stay on the ship."

"Yeah. Ellen needs emotional support." 8 minutes left. Mari quadruple-checked the landing gear, scrutinizing every detail.
