"Oh they were furious," Cicada said with a slight laugh, "Scoured the entire underworld looking for you. I'm pretty sure they were just mad they didn't have a perfect little boy like they thought."
Stranger Academy
Nienna took a deep breath since no one spoke up and went through the portal after the elf girl into the small dorm.
"I call dibs on this bed!" Nyna jumped on one of the random beds.
"Yeah, they trained me to be perfect, so I could impress your dad." He looked out the window. "You know why." It was weird talking about this, and with the person herself.
Cicada sighed as her body tensed slightly, "Yeah I know. Wasn't my idea, I even told him not to. Not like I could make much of a difference, I've been raised to be the 'prefect' wife. The 'perfect' queen. I needed an escape, so I did."
"I felt the same." He looked towards Cicada. "You know you'll have to return some day to take the throne." Him on the other hand, he wasn't important enough to return.
"I know," she said with a sigh laying back on the bed, "I hope that day doesn't come any time soon."
"Why are you so against it?" She got to rule the whole underworld. Who wouldn't want that? Uriah, would love to be King, he didn't want to be forced to marry someone though.
Harley went to find her room
Nyna looked around, "Wait, where's Harley?"
Nienna looked confused. Whose Harley, oh no is it another elf! Nienna looked around before being filled with relief and pointed to the girl in the other room.
Harley heard her name “I’m here!” She waved
Nyna waved at Harley across the room with a smile on her face, "Hey!" Nyna turned and saw Nienna. "I believe that I've never introduced myself, my name's Nyna and you are?"
Harley walked over to the others
Nienna paused. "Nienna." She mumbled before looking away.
"Why are you so against it?" She got to rule the whole underworld. Who wouldn't want that? Uriah, would love to be King, he didn't want to be forced to marry someone though.
"Because the moment it happens I go back into the teeny tiny box my father created for me," Katy made gestures to match her words, "A reputation I can't easily shake off. but it's not who I am. Who I want to be, so literally being in the royal line is the worse thing for me."
"Hm." Uriah was going to say something but decided against it. "I can see how it wouldn't fit you." She never seemed like the type to sit and rule a place.
"Thank you!" she sighed exasperatedly, "Someone sees my point."
Uriah laughed and looked out the window. They haven't talked liked this since they were kids. its nice.
Cicada was grinning on the bed, was it bad to say she missed talking to Uriah like this? Ever since the announcement of the marriage came out she had been avoiding him as best she could. She had never seen him as a possible love interest, more like a brother.
Uriah had to be careful of what he thought about. Unlike him she can read his thoughts. He had no idea what she was thinking. I wish I had that power instead of my third one. Uriah covered his mouth even though he didn't actually say it.
"No you don't. It means you can hear what everyone really thinks of you," she sounded hurt, "The good and the bad."
"Can you not control when to listen and when not to?" He turned the other way looking at her again. He thought she could control it.
"On my good days no, on my bad days yes. It's a fifty-fifty, actually more like twenty-eighty. I have a lot of bad days," her training had focused on things other than that power. Her father had thought it would be 'good' for her to hear what everyone thought. So she knew who to trust and who to not.
"I guess that was something I was blessed with. I can control when to bring people's fears to life." It's still awful power though. "I can see how yours will come in handy." She could literally blackmail people to do whatever she wants, not that she will it was just a thought.
"I have before," she responded to his thoughts, "Normally to people my father needs under his reign. He doesn't have this 'blessed' ability. Also that can be useful. Like in combat and stuff."
"Remind me to never fight you then." He laughed. If he had to fight someone who knew his every move, it would horrible. Her powers are way cooler then mine. Uriah rolled his eyes. And there I go again not thinking about out I'm thinking about. Wait, that makes no sense. Now she's hearing all this. Dang it!
Cicada was laughing on the other bed. Her wings had curled around her body in a much more natural position, "Oh my God. That-I-"
"Shut up!" He was completely embarrassed. "I won't have any thinking a privacy around you. So be prepared to hear a lot of things." He scowled at her as she laughed.
Durbin laughed, having accidentally caught their conversation telepathically.
