"Well, my mother came to me in a dream when I was unconscious," Avery said. "She said that 'where the sun rises, there the stars fall.' I don't know what that means, but Oscar found the same thing earlier when I asked him about the Flame."
Element jumped up. "My brother told me the SAME thing in Portuguese!"

Facing Element, Avery exclaimed, "In Portuguese? How many languages do you speak?"
"Well, all of them actually. And lots of universal ones too. But that isn't the point."

"Woah," breathed Avery. "All of them? So if I say, κάποιο τυχαίο πράγμα, you know what I'm saying?"
"Yes of course. But like I said, that isn't the point. Oh! I brought that book from the library back with me!" She said excitedly, but when she reached down to grab it from her bag, ( that she MAGICALLY JUST HAS ) her head suddenly felt like a rock was thrown at it. "ARGH!" she said, sitting up again. "Sorry, would you grab the book for me?" she muttered, and then she groaned.

Vaughn peered over at the papers. “Does there happen to be a list of members?”
Dylan fished into the bag and pulled out the book, giving it a once over and looking at Element before opening it, "Are you ok? There isn't some kind of… curse, or something on the book, is there?"
Dylan gave Vaughn a questioning look and laughed, "Somehow I get the feeling it isn't gonna be that easy. We do know the leader though, an Alien by the name of Xelnarin. He's got a couple of kids, one of which he abandoned."

Vaughn exhaled sharply. “I could ask my contact, the one who has mentioned them before. Don’t know how much I could get out of him, but I can try.”
Dylan nodded, "I'd appreciate it." He turned to Element, "Are you holding up alright?"

“Mhm.” Vaughn stepped out of the room and out of earshot, taking out his phone and dialing a number. “It’s just me, the station isn’t burnt down on your watch?” He murmured to the person on the other line. “Good. What can you get me on a cult called The Flame?” He paused, listening. “No, I don’t want to join, good God. I was taken in for .. questioning, and these people think I know something.” He paused again, a frown forming. “Please tell me you aren’t into that. I know cults are common in your race but-.. Oh, you just know someone?” He talked on the phone for a few more minutes before hanging up.
"Of course its not a curse, its my head. Something hit it and I almost died, but thanks for asking. The giant blood soaked bandage around my head doesn't give anything away, right?" she said bitterly, grabbed the book and opening it.

Vaughn stepped back into the room, putting his phone away. “He wouldn’t give me much over the phone, said I owed him before he told me anything else.” He huffs, rubbing at his face. “But he gave the name of a member that may be easier to find.”
"Who?" Element asked, looking up.

“Jared Mann,” Vaughn said. “He lives in the suburbs a few miles away from here.”
She nodded quietly. "What do we do now, then?" she asked, looking around the room.

“Well I will be heading back to my station because I’ve done my part and I really need a drink,” Vaughn says, checking a text from the man he called earlier.

"We could, oh, I don't know, sleep?" Avery suggested, looking at her watch. "It's almost nine, you guys. There are extra rooms spread throughout the building, so if anyone wants to actually get some rest so that they can function tomorrow, you can go find a room."

Vaughn decided that he should slip out. He turned on his heel, walking to the door and going out. He stood outside for a moment and called the woman who he had “helped” earlier. He was surprised when a mans voice answered, saying he found this phone by a crash site. “Crash site? Who was in the car?” He asked quickly. The man said that there was just a woman in the car who kept murmuring about her son at home. Vaughn hung up and cursed sharply, glancing around for a car that he could try to hotwire.

Avery noticed Vaughn slip out the back door, so she followed him, curious as to what he could be doing. She saw him answer his phone, and he cursed when he hung up. When he glanced around, she quickly slipped into the shadows, hoping he didn't notice her.

As Vaughn walked onwards a random car, he called the families home phone. He sighed in relief when a high pitched toddlers voice answered. “Hey, Sam, it’s Vaughn. Listen, buddy, your mom will be out late tonight, so I’m coming to watch you, okay?” He paused then genuinely smiled and laughed. “Yeah, kind of like a sleep over. I’ll be there in a bit, bye.” He hung up and stopped by the car.

As Vaughn walked to a random car, Avery decided that whatever he was doing probably wasn't worth following him for. She turned around and went back inside, locking the back door behind her.
I don't know what he's up to, but I've got more pressing matters to deal with right now. Namely, the possible fate of the world, she thought, reaching the kitchen again.

Vaughn smashed his elbow into the window of the car, the window shattering and the alarm beginning to blare. He unlocked the car door and got inside, reaching down and ripping out a bundle of wires, the alarm shutting off. He fiddled with a few more wires, and was pleased when the car engine started up.
Element saw Avery walk in. "Where did you go?" she questioned, looking up from her book. She wasn't wearing her suit anymore, it was replaced by sweatpants, fuzzy socks, and a 'Stranger Things' sweatshirt. Her bandage was fresh, and instead of it being a wrap it was a large band-aid on the left side of her head. She wore cute glasses, and her hair was pulled into a messy-bun.
Dylan realized exactly how long it's been since he's really slept. Strangely, he felt fine, but decided to fake a yawn for Avery's sake, "Awww… yeah. I think I might conk out. Where is that room?"

"Just to check on something. Everything's all good," Avery replied with a smile. Noticing that Element had changed, she commented, "You look comfortable; changing seems like a really great idea right now. Let me go put on some real clothes."
She walked to her room and found some more comfortable clothes: black leggings, a mid-thigh-length skirt with a scene from The Lion King on it, and a matching shirt. After changing, she went back into the living room area and found Element still there, reading her book.
"Whatcha readin'?" she asked as she sat down next to her, pulling her phone out of a hidden pocket.
