She wears it on a thin iron (to protect against supernatural creatures) chain around her neck. She also has enhanced senses, strength, reflexes, etc.
Looks: Tessa normally passes as a boy and goes simply by Monty, due to the better treatment that she gets when she does so, so she cuts her black hair short. (back then, there wasn’t exactly racism… people of color were so uncommon that people were just like ?? the fuck?? why is your skin so much darker? But it was considered a sign that you were poor, so…) She looks very androgynous, without the petite frame that most girls have, and she is also taller than most. She has light brown skin and dark eyes, with very pronounced features.
Personality: On the surface, she is fierce, independent, and pugnacious, but beneath her tough exterior, she possesses a strong loyalty toward her friends and duty. She also has an admirable compassion and devotion, demonstrated when she expresses love toward things such as her family and friends. Her offensive battle style means that she is always quick to initiate or rise to a challenge, and is similarly quick witted and impulsive, especially in heated situations.
Backstory: Theresa’s the daughter of a whore and a rich merchant. While the merchant was out on a business trip, his return voyage home was delayed and he grew tired of waiting to come back home, so… he hired a prostitute. About a year later, the prostitute found out where he lived showed up at his door with a baby. Horrified, the merchant ordered her to drown the baby, but she couldn’t bring herself to do so. She left the baby next to a convent; she was found by the nuns, who christened her Theresa, after the wife of Saint Paulinus. Later, when Theresa was thirteen, a mysterious stranger came to the church. It turned out that he was sent by the merchant, who, after he found out that his illegitimate, dark-skinned daughter was still alive, sent an assassin to the convent. However, after going through his things because she was suspicious of his intent at the church, she begged him to train her.
Other: Uses a crossbow as a weapon, but prefers hand-to-hand combat (no weapons).
