“Nah, course not. But soon.” She laughed and went back inside, looking an arm around her little brother and ruffling his hair
The begining
Vanessa walked back inside with a smile
Brink smiled up at his sister and glanced back at Ness with a smile “ready to go back?”
Vanessa nodded with a genuine smile
they all headed out again, heading a different direction than the one they'd come from
Are you taking me somewhere to kill me and bury my body"
"Isn't that the fun part? not knowing your path in life?" brink mused over his shoulder, Holding the bat on his shoulders while his hands rested over it
"Would rather not scratch your eyes out from your family trying to kill me" she said
He grinned "you can try, it won't end well for you kitty cat." he teased,
She smiled at the nickname " try me"
brink smiled widely and turned on his heal, still walking backwards "you threatened, by the laws of crime, you strike first."
" I don't believe in the rules of the law" she said
"Who said anything about rules? Crime laws only have one law." he grinned knowingly and spun back around
Vanessa chuckled and shook her head
Brink suddenly stopped, tilted his head sharply and headed down an ally way. "i'll meet you at home," he called to his family as they continued on
Vanessa's eyes wandered after brink
brink unhooked the bat from around his shoulders and swung it lazily beside him as he walked on. He glanced down at something in the dark and crouched dow, seemingly to pet a creature.
Vanessa had stopped while everyone else kept going
Brink gently picked up the cat and place her in the hood of his jacket as he climbed the fire escape to the rooftops above
Vanessa followed in brinks footsteps
He stood on the edge of the roof, the cat safely in his arms. “You could’ve kept going with them if you wanted to.”
" I know" she said " but I didn't want to" she said
Brink nodded and swung his legs over the edge, holding the cat in his lap. “This is probably weird to ask but do you understand them?” He asked, pointing to the cat
" well considering I am one yes" she said
"You can shift into one?" he asked, now very intrigued
Vanessa nodded with a small smile
Brink smiled and tilted his head "thats cool! is it a temporary thing or you can choose when and how long to stay?"
" I choose " she said with a slight Blush
He nodded and glanced down at the at who had curled up in his lap "are there more like you or just those in your family?"
" I'm not even supposed to but actually when I was eight I fell in some toxic chemicals and now I'm like this" she said
