The Last Hope of Evras (Still Open!)

For almost a century, the Kingdom of Evras has been at war with the mages in the north. The past Kings of the land were power hungry, anything stronger than them they eliminated. The mages were the strongest of them all. They were born with abilities more powerful than the common mortal. They had magic, each unique, each dangerous, at least in the eyes of the Kings. They sought to destroy them. What they believed would be war lasting only years, turned into a decades-old battle. Millions of lives were lost. Paranoia was struck in the hearts of those who resided in Evras. If even one suspected another of being a mage, they burned at the stake. All mages went into hiding, either blending into the kingdom as best they could or fleeing to the north to their brethren, praying they would make it without crossing paths with soldiers, or their life would be forfeit. The current King, Alder, has called for a quest. A quest that if succeeded, would end the fighting once and for all. Anyone believing they are worthy may step up, pledge themselves to this fight. The King's first born has already pledged to lead this mission but he cannot accomplish it alone. Rise up and fight, fight so that your family, your neighbors may live. You might lose your life on the way but know that it will not be in vain. Come and join your prince. If you succeed, eternal glory will be bestowed upon you and your family. Fail, and you will lose your life, either by the hand of the enemy or the King himself.

Personality: The Crown Prince is not one to mess with. He spends his days' training with his men, working with his father on various politics, and carrying out punishments. He doesn't speak much, and when he does, his words are usually harsh and condescending. He hears all and sees all, his spies whispering in his ear about the health of the kingdom. They whisper talks up uprising in some of the outer villages, they whisper the King's plan of Elias. He is always watching, always on his guard, for he knows the moment that he doesn't, will be the day of his assassination. His lovers amount in few and never for long. He stopped taking them after his father threatened to behead the woman he had been taking to bed. His magic weighs him down like a curse. Being the son of the man who had sworn to eradicate all mages, he has to always be careful when he uses it. If word got out that he was one of those the Kingdom hated most, he would be dead within a fortnight. He volunteered himself for the quest that his father proposed, more so to get himself out of his suspecting father's eyes.
Flaws: Elias is paranoid at just about everything. He rarely sleeps at night, and not just because of the nightmares. he fears the moment his eyes close his throat will be slit. Elias assumes that everyone is his enemy until proven they are not, and even then, he is still wary.
Fears: Elias fears his father, believing the King wants him dead. He fears what he is, smothering it instead of embracing it. He fears to take the crown. He fears the ruin that his Kingdom will be in if he lives long enough to be crowned king.
Other: Elias is nearly blind in his left eye.
