"You good?" she asked, studying his movements.

Suddenly, Kate's phone buzzed with a phone call. She jumped anxiously, then looked over at the screen.

"Something wrong?" he asked.

"No, it just startled me, that's all," she murmured, reading the name. Her face lit up and she answered it. "Hello?"

"Matt, listen, I–… You did?… It was?!… Are you– No, you finish… Oh… Okay… See you soon then." She hung up and looked at Jay. "One of my friends is coming."

Kate looked up and let go of Maria's hand to go over and open the door. "Matt," she sighed and he stepped in.
When he saw Maria on the bed, he deadpanned. "Kate…" he began, then he saw Jay and squinted suspiciously. "Who's that?"
