A slow smile crept across Floyd’s face as his friend explained.
“I’m sure he’s closer than you think,” Cassie piped up, stifling a giggle as her brother kicked her under the table.he gave her a quick threatening look and turned back to Ace with a smile.
“I’m sure you’ll find someone,” Floyd said.

"God I hope so…I can't be remembered as the king who was single forever." He grumbled, "I think if i'm still single when I turn Twenty one i'll just say 'Fuck it' and marry the closest thing that breathes." he complained jokingly.
"What about you, I remember you telling me that Cassie has been trying to get you to hook up with some of her clients." he said, eyebrows wiggling in a taunting manner.

Floyd laughed at his joke, stopping as he coughed, choking on his coffee. “Cassie knows very well now that the clients she has me meet up with are not my type, isn’t that right?” He said, looking at his blonde sister expectantly.
“Yeah, I understand now,” She said, smirking at her brother, and he hit her foot with his once again. “But I forget, why did you not like them again?”
“I-er, don’t really like, um, women,” He muttered, quickly going back to sipping on his coffee, silently cursing his sister for bringing it up.

Ace looked up, a bit of hope shimmering in his blue eyes, "Really?!" he cried, mouth agape, "I mean, uh, really?"
He smiled a bit at Floyd, "At least I know I'm not alone anymore," the nineteen year old said, taking a sip of water before adding, "You know what that means? We can talk about BOYS TOGETHER!" he exclaimed, once again in a joking manner, he enjoyed teasing his friend.
Abana took apart the prototype, and checked for flaws. She then took a gerbil infected with radiation, and tested it, right in the shop. She gasped. It worked. She stuffed the gerbil back into the cage, and ran out.

( Okay real quick I was just on this website called 'OTP Prompts' Dont judge me, you have your hobbies-I have mine- anyway, I saw this and thought it was cute…
Imagine your OTP as sworn enemies in a workplace for whatever reason you choose. They have passive-aggressive sticky note arguments, roll around in squeaky office chairs, fire spitballs, arrive early to take the last parking spot, etc. just to irritate each other. Person A has to deal with a lot of Person B’s shit, but nothing makes them angrier than when B steals random little necessities from A. Pencils, pens, paper, scissors, you name it.
Now imagine A confronting B at their desk after B steals a stapler (for the third time this week, A might add). In the midst of releasing their bottled-up rage, A gets caught between saying “you wanna fight” and “fuck you”, and screams “YOU WANNA FUCK” in the presence of a dozen coworkers.
(Bonus: B looks A directly in the eyes and says “I had been WAITING for you to ASK, twat”)
I have no idea why, but I thought this was great.)

Floyd groaned in an embarrassed way while Cassie laughed. “Yeah, whatever,” he said, attempting to keep his cool. He never really meant for Ace to find out. He had never even tried being in a relationship with a man, so now he just felt uncomfortable.

Seeing Floyd's sudden discomfort, Ace nudged him softly," Hey, it's nothing to be ashamed about, if you're gay, be proud! I'm not gonna tell anyone,"
He smiled, "Besides, you're like-my only friend- why would I ruin that?" the blue eyed boy said, giggling.
Abana called her superviser. This was huge. The prototype could generate a radiation-purging frequence, so a bigger, better one would be needed, just after a few more tests.

Floyd looked over at his friend and shrugged, smiling slightly. “Yeh, but I feel like I just came out. I never really did officially,” he explained.
“He’s right,” Cassie chimed in, “I found out because I saw him-“
“Okay!” Her brother cut her off with wide eyes. “Some things need to not be spoken of. Ever.”

Ace smiled back at Floyd, before his eye's widened while he listened to Cassie, rubbing the back of his neck he smiled sheepishly, looking over at his friend and wiggling his eyebrows, unsure if it was exactly what it sounded like.
"Anyway…Cassie, have you heard of redwoods or Sequoia sempervirens? They where these massive plant called a tree! They where like, the biggest plant ever, I have a whole entire book on plants in my fathers library and i've been reading it whenever I get the chance, it's fascinating." He said, a bright smile on his face.

Floyd shook his head, his face growing hot. God, she could never keep her mouth shut.
Cassie lookd over at Ace and smiled cheekily, nodding. “Yes! They mostly grew in an area called California, and they were known to be one of the tallest trees in the world. Before the radiation killed off most plants, they grew in large forests, and people would one from all over just to see them!” She explained.

"Really? I would do anything to see a tree, Oh or more flowers, I still have the one Floyd gave me..I think those are my favorite plants though…I heard that there where these plants that ate meat..I can't remember what they called them..but they where so cool!"He took another sip from his water.
"I could let you borrow the book, it's amazing, the world was full of so many cool things before the war." He said, smiling at Cassie.

“Plants that ate meat? Oh, dionaea muscipula, the venus fly trap! They were very cool. There were smaller ones that you could put in pots, and large ones that were as big as a person that grew in tropical forests. And I’ll have to take you up on that sometime. I’m too busy to be reading now, though. My team leader has me working all day and night for the next couple of days,” Cassie said.
Floyd frowned at that. “That have you working full shifts? Are they even aware that you still need your sleep? You already work a ton, and now more?”
“It’s fine,” Cassie said, smiling, “really.”

Ace shook his head, "No, it's not fine, I'll see what I can do, i'll talk to your team leader, maybe convince him to let you guys have some time off…I mean, I overworked myself, and i'd probably still be in that library staring into the piles of paperwork if it wasn't for Floyd convincing me to take a break.." He stretched a bit, smiling brightly at his friends.

Cassie looked at Floyd and smiled, nodding her head. She looked back at Ace, saying thank you. “You really do a lot for our family, and you have no idea how much it means to us.”
The brunette nodded in agreement to what Cassie said. He was extremely greatful to be friends with someone like Ace. He really did help to support his family, and he knew they might be out on the streets if it wasn’t for his blonde friend.

Floyd smiled and nodded slowly, looking at his friend. He finished his food and wiped his hands off on a cloth. Cassie had been finished for a few minutes and had been waiting. “Well, now that we seem to be done, I should really head back fo the lab.”

"Thanks for inviting me out with you guys, I needed it!" Jumping up from his seat, he dropped a generous amount of money on the table.

Floyd and Cassie both stood up, smiling at Ace. “Of course, this was fun,” the blonde girl said, her smile warm.
“Yeah, it was great to catch up,” Floyd said, nodding his head. He still couldn’t help feeling embarrassed about before. He was lucky that his friend had been so understanding when Cassie blurted it out.

Ace smiled, his mood improving by a lot. He skipped ahead, feeling like his old self again, forgetting all about the mountain of paperwork waiting for him at home, his head falling back as he watched the clouds, arms crossed behind his head.

It made Floyd happy to see his friend enjoying himself. He had obviously changed slightly after the death of his father. It was most noticeable at his first announcement, or when he had shoved Floyd. He wasn’t fond of that side of the boy as much as his normal self.

As Ace continued on, he fell back, keeping in line between the siblings. He looked over at Cassie before smiling, and then looking up at Ace and doing the same for him.

Eventually Cassie said goodbye to the two, having to pick up some things from home before she went back to the lab. Floyd sighed slowly, crossing his arms over his chest. “Do you have to go back and work more?” He asked Ace. With the door to the outside world sealed up, he didn’t have much to do.

"Well, I have another week to finish the work..I just wanted to get it done…" He said, face scrunching up at the thought of the piles of paperwork sitting on his desk, "Why?" He asked, running a hand through his short blonde hair out of habit.
