The sun and the moon (one on on (Closed stalkers welcome)

“Everything is scary at the dark time.” She said, pulling her knees up to her chest.

Moony grinned at her. “It is not that bad, once you get used to it.”

“All the noises left. Everything went to sleep.” She said quietly.

Moony nodded. “That is what happens, I think.”

“Oh, not those things.” She pointed up to the sky as a couple bats flew above them.

Moony watched the bats. “They look nice. I wonder if they’re fuzzy.”

“What are they? I’ve never seen them before.”

“I am not sure. I think they are called bats.”

Echo giggled. “A bat. We don’t have those at home.”

“I think it is because it is too hot in your home.” He looked at her. “And too cold in mine.”

Echo gasped and pointed back up to the sky. “Look! The moon!”

Moony looked up. The moon was in a 3/4 waning position that night. “It is not all there.”

“I think the sun does that. Something with shadows. But I’ve never seen it like this!”

Moony tilted his head. “Hmm… I’m not sure what you mean.”

"It's complicated. But the moon's still there, don't worry. It's just hidden behind a shadow."

Moony gave her a confused look. “What in the dirt-planet are you talking about?”

"When the moon and the sun are on opposite sides of the Earth, you perceive the moon as full. But, when the sun and the moon are on the same side of the Earth, we say the moon is new which means you can't see it from earth. During a new moon, the side of the moon that we can see from Earth is not hit by sunlight at all."

Moony tilted his head. “Er… alright, then, but what is the Earth?”

“Which one? There are many of them.”

Moony tilted his head this way and that like a doggo.
“So this planet?”

"Is going around the sun, with the moon, and eight other planets are also going around the sun."

Moony shook his head. “That is very odd.”

"Is it? I don't think so."

“I haven’t heard of such a thing in my home. Nor have I heard of eight planets.”

"You don't know about the planets?! How? Can't you see them?"

Moony tilted his head. “I guess I never paid attention.”

"They're hard to see but Venus is the closest to Earth. See, that bright thing up there." She pointed up to a significantly bright star.
