Cyrus jumped a bit when the man yelled, tucking his wings gracefully behind his back. He only landed a few seconds after corbin landed. “ he's like a Literal ray of sunshine,” he said between confused an surprised
“ there's nothing left to say now.”
"Yeah, he's really bright and cheerful like that. You get used to it." Nathaniel ruffled Corbin's hair and a tall man with dark hair and dark wings came to the door, yawning. He had on a classic sorcerer/wizard type hat and was much quieter than his sunshine husband. "Nice to see you, Star." Lorenzo said softly, then turning his attention to Cyrus, who Nathaniel hadn't noticed yet through his chattering to his son. "And who might you be?"
“ Cyrus shagima,” he answered politely. Cyrus smiled and looked over at corbin to make sure he was doing okay.
"Alright, Cyrus Shagima. Who are you." Lorenzo asked again, crossing his arms. He was clearly skeptical. Corbin waved his hands in front of himself defensively. "H-Hey, lay off him, papa. He's my new guard. Apparently I'm supposed to have one since I'm a crow or something."
"Ooh, you're protecting my chickadee?" Nathaniel asked, looking up at Cyrus curiously. "You'll be nice to him, won't you? Oh! Come in! Don't just stand out in the cold!" He stepped out of the doorway to let the two of them in.
Cyrus only followed when corbin went in, he blue jay wings shimmering “ I get the feeling your parents may not like me.” he mumbled. Cyrus fidgeted with his mage abilities a little trying not to stare at the two older men.
"No, no, I'm sure they'll like you when they get to know you. Papa is just really protective." Corbin laughed weakly as he headed inside. Nathaniel fluttered around, attending to the two of them and chatting about everything and nothing at all. Lorenzo just watched Cyrus distrustfully.
Cyrus pulled out his water bottle and bended the water playfully while trying to keep it out of sight, he sent a couple of droplets into the back of Corbin's head and smiled at him with a caring but worried look. Cyrus hated people staring at him for long periods but the look Lorenzo was giving him made every hair stand on end.
Corbin laughed softly as Cyrus played with the water, rubbing away the wetness with one hand. Eventually, Nathaniel sat down beside his husband to look at Cyrus as well.
"So, Shagima." Lorenzo began after clearing his throat. He was normally calm and charming, but he was cold and intimidating at the moment. "What exactly are your intentions with my son?" He asked.
"Papa, w-we're not even dating…" Corbin protested, flushing in embarrassment.
Cyrus's face turned a light shade of pink “ I. I was ordered on behalf of general shagima to protect your son, even if it cost my life. “ he said. This had clearly been practiced by him and his father. Though cyrus put the water away quickly when the parents focused on him.
Corbin buried his red face in his hands, clearly mortified. Lorenzo narrowed his eyes at Cyrus. "That's great." Nathaniel chimed in, keeping one hand on his husband's shoulder in hopes of easing the tension. "And how long have you been guarding him?" He asked curiously. "Is this a pretty recent thing, or…?"
“ just a couple of days now,” he said tentatively, Cyrus seemed nervous and kept his eyes on the ground.
Nathaniel nodded, folding his wings so he wouldn't seem as intimidating. Not that he was the scary one of the pair, anyway. Lorenzo still wasn't convinced. "And what all exactly does 'guarding' entail?'
“ keeping him safe from rioters and anyone who plans to cause him harm. Sir, I don't know if you've noticed but there have been a large amount of crows being murdered or targeted for “ he cleared his throat” things, I'm trying my hardest to keep him safe. “ he said seriously.
Lorenzo narrowed his eyes again and Nathaniel wrapped one arm around him. "Well, that's great. Thanks for keeping our Star safe." Nathaniel trilled softly and smiled, still trying to cut the tension. Corbin sighed softly. "It's just a precaution, papa. Really. There's been lots of riots lately and crows get hurt in them a lot." Lorenzo grumbled a bit in vague agreement.
“ so sirs, I have a question” cyrus took out his water bottle and set it on the floor “ if you don't mind, if cori chooses a water topic on magic, may I train him?” he asked, he knew Lorenzo would be a skeptic if he even knew magic. So he got ready to show for him.
"Ooh, that would be great!" Nathaniel exclaimed, interrupting what was bound to be a protest from his husband. "You're looking into a water focus, chickadee?" He asked his son. Corbin nodded, his face still pretty flushed. Lorenzo grumbled again and sighed, closing his eyes. "I suppose that's alright… he already knows the basics of magic from what I've taught him."
Cyrus nodded, taking the cap off his water bottle and bending the water around corbin, even water that touched his shirt bounced off like it was in space. It was a pretty complicated trick to not let the other person get wet. “ thank you, “ he said gratefully ( Cyrus trying his hardest to impress lorenzo)
Corbin watched the water curiously and Nathaniel clapped a bit, grinning and clearly intrigued. He was always interested in magic, but never could do it himself. Lorenzo was much more difficult to read, but at least didn't have any overtly negative responses. He was pretty skilled in several areas himself, but he supposed the water magic was adequate. "Lovely! I'm sure you'll be a great teacher for our Cori." Nathaniel replied cheerily.
“ Thanks, “ he said with a smile. He put the water back in the bottle and put it in his pocket. He looked around the house a bit, out of topics to talk about.
"We should probably get going soon." Corbin said after a bit, laughing softly. Nathaniel whined a bit, not wanting him to go, but eventually allowed the two of them to leave. Corbin sighed a bit once he and Cyrus were out of the house. "Sorry about all of that…"
“ it's fine, “ he said, he looked over to corbin and looked away quite quickly “ Lorenzo seems like a hard father to impress. “ he said
"Y-Yeah… and dad is pretty much incapable of calling me by my given name. Sorry for all the dumb Nicknames." He laughed nervously, his face flushed.
“ I think chickadee had to be my favorite “ he said with a laugh and a kind look at corbin
"Shut uuup…" Corbin whined, burying his red face in his hands again. "He's called me that since I was a baby… Star, too, since my middle name is Starling."
Cyrus smiled and laughed a little, without thinking he put his hand in Corbin's, still smiling and laughing about his new found joke.
Corbin sighed softly and squeezed Cyrus' hand a bit, starting to walk home with him. "Papa isn't normally that scary, I swear. He's just protective over me. Dad just loves meeting new people so he's more subtle about it, but he was definitely testing you as well."
“ I heard. He seemed pretty interested in what I was doing with you. “ he said. “ so, what do you want for supper? I'd figure I'll cook this time, it's only fair.” he said and looked over at corbin.
"Mm? Oh, anything is fine… I don't really have much to cook with at my place, though." Corbin laughed softly. "Even if they were kinda intimidating, did you like my dads?" He asked curiously.
“ yeah!” he said with a bright smile “ they're pretty cool” he continued “ and I could go to the store and pick up stuff for something my dad taught me to cook,” he mentioned
Corbin nodded and smiled softly. "Dad is something else… I haven't seen any other angels in this area. No one ever really seems prepared to see him, even when I warn them about his whole… aura, or whatever."
