Vaughn ran a hand through his hair, tugging the strands. He couldn’t believe that Alana had even done anything close to that. Sure, they had had their fun in the past and been playful with each other, but they were older now, and that was a bit much. If that little girl, whoever she was, didn’t appear, who knows what could have happened.
Alana decided to simply let herself fall into darkness, drifting off into a deep sleep. (And actually, I gtg for the night. Irony, am I right? But yeah, bye!)

Vaughn got up, searching through his boxes of things before finding a bottle of pills. He unscrewed the cap, popping three pills into his mouth and swallowing them dry. After a few minutes, he began to feel drowsy. Now, he was changed into a simple pair of sweats as he climbed into bed, pulling the sheets over his body before letting the sleep overtake him.
(Good morning!) Alana woke up on the concrete floor, still unmoving. She had accepted defeat. The universe probably wouldn't miss her.

Vaughn had woken up quite early. He didn’t bother coming out of his room, deciding that he would rather spend the day in there. He was still mentally reeling from what happened the day before.

Alana finally got up and started pacing around her cell. What was she going to do about her little predicament?

Vaughn was usually so good at reading others. How did he not see that his friendship with Alana would fall apart? And of course, she knew how to get to him. Restraints made him anxious, and controlled touching took his breath away- and not in a good way.
Next time they talked, which could be months, actually, Alana would have to either attempt the mind-voodoo truck again or-God forbid, this was of course only as a last resort-apologize. She shuddered at the very thought

Vaughn forced himself to get up, his muscles aching slightly. He ran a hand through his bedheaded hair, pulling on a tshirt and walking out of the backroom. He wondered if he should eat something for breakfast, but his stomach felt too uneasy.
Alana was drawing up a battle strategy. Hopefully she could get out of here, after that it wouldn't be too difficult to hypnotize someone into allowing her to steal a vehicle and some cash.

Instead, Vaughn sat down in a desk chair, digging a file out of a box. He flipped it open, glancing over the material and photographs inside. He rested his hand on his forehead as he read, his mind going back and forth from the case to Alana.
Of course, there would still be the problem of Vaughn. She could easily murder him, but not while stuck in here. Alana wondered how she was going to go about gaining his trust, she already had thousands of ideas that statistically were going to work no matter what, but she wanted to use the one that caused him the most pain.

Vaughn set that file aside, then picked up another. He opened it, and just stared at the photo of the little girl. She was a bit pale, like him, but instead of his straight black hair, hers was a golden blonde and extremely curly and long. The little girl was smiling in the photo, a backpack on her back. He remembered that. It was her first day of the third grade. His heart lurched painfully as he glanced over her name- Adeline Finley.
She could probably reach out to Vaughn with her mind, just a little psychic nudge. At least she could try to talk with Vaughn. Alana focused, she found herself catching the image of a blond girl, as well as a few pangs of regret that weren't hers. Alana didn't feel regret. Stop ignoring me, pretty boy. she thought, sending that thought into Vaughn's mind and waiting for him to react.

Vaughn was still sitting there looking at the girl’s photo, when a thought that wasn’t his own came into his mind. He thought it was the little voice in his head, but that wasn’t what the voice sounded like. He then thought that it must be Alana. But he didn’t want to talk to her.
Stop ignoring me. Just say something. Seriously, it isn't that difficult. Just imagine yourself saying the words aloud and I'll be able to hear them. Alana thought. You're an insufferable old quack, y'know that right?

Leave me alone, Alana, was what Vaughn thought sharply. He tore his eyes away from the photo and shut the file, dropping it back into the box.
No, I don't think so. Who's the little girl? Alana inquired.

Little girl? Vaughn thought, but the more he thought about it, the more familiar the girl became. Not important.
Obviously she is. And you keep thinking about her, I can see her more easily the more you think about her. Who was Adeline? Alana thought, she was truly curious.

Vaughn’s body tensed at the name. Get out of my head, and don’t say her name. You have no right to, he hissed, doing his best to try and push Alana out of his mind.
Nah. Your head is rather interesting. she replied, her smirk was practically audible.

Vaughn shook his head a bit, getting up and attempting to shove her out again. He walked into the bathroom, looking at himself in the mirror.
Alana's face appeared in the mirror, even though she wasn't standing beside Vaughn, as she was still locked in her cell. "Ah, that's better. Hello!" she waved.

Vaughn flinched in surprise, eyes a bit wide. “Stop it, Alana. You can’t stay like that,” he huffed, crossing his arms as he resisted the urge to just smash the mirror.
"Yeah I can. I'm simply altering your perception a bit so you can see me. Now we can talk face to face. Problem with that?" she asked.

“Yes, there is a problem with that. You threatened me, so I don’t want to talk with you. And I need to get a shower,” Vaughn responded. His fists clenched and unclenched, bruised knuckles aching.
"I don't mind watching." Alana the Not-Perverted-But-Has-Little-To-No-Understanding-Of-Social-Cues-And-Privacy said. Hey, if you can look inside a person's head at will, you're bound to have absolutely no understanding of personal privacy.

“I mind you watching!” Vaughn exclaimed, his tone raising. He was not going to let Alana watch him shower for Christsake.
"Oh. Right. I'll close my eyes then." she said.
