Urban Fantasy and Modern Magic!

Okay this is one of my favourite concepts, I literally have two universes on notebook based around it and like half a notebook filled with modern fantasy characters (and its a big notebook), not to mention the sketchbooks :P

I was thinking maybe New York or someother big city with sizeable pockets of nature inside as a setting, and in modern times, maybe two or three years ago, in May.

There are lots of magical species you could choose from, for example:

• Witch
• Wizard
• Warlock
• Dryad
• Faerie
• Werewolf
• Vampire
• Dwarf
• Elf
• Oracle
• Dragonborn
• Centaur

Or whatever you come up with! You could also be mortal, or mortal with with powers, for example a necromancer.

Rules are as follows:

• No IRL hate
• no stealing ideas
• no controlling other characters or harming them in any way
• one character POV maximum. Obviously you can have your character’s mom or friends or whatever in this, but stick to on POV and make sure the other characters aren’t as major
• romance is strictly PG
• violence permitted
• swearing allowed, but bleep out swear words
• no Mary Sues
• please avoid stereotypes. The dark and brooding vampire? Avoid it, be original. The alpha and dominating bad boy werewolf? don't go there.
• if there are already three people of one species, choose a different one
• please no one liners
• no elementals. Your character can have earth-based powers, for example, but none of this 'controlling all of the element' business please
• try to have your character anywhere between grade 12 at the very youngest to being in their last year of college/university at the very oldest

Appearance: Dark brown hair, thick and rich with streaks of bronze, copper, and rose gold, dark tan skin, deep sepia brown eyes lined with thick lashes. High cheekbones, pronounced lips. Ears decked out in many piercings, 5'4", petite frame. Hair has large waves and tips that curl inwards, reaches a few inches below her shoulders.
Typical attire: Colourful fabrics, sort of modernized gypsy attire made into casual clothing, loves patterned headscarves and dangly earrings, swishy skirts and shawls, leggings worn with patterns poncho/butterfly sleeves type tops. Loves ankle-height wedge boots, wears a lot of beaded bracelets.
Personality: An ambivert, likes social gatherings, very optimistic and uplifting. Faithful and methodical with her craft, is careful with her selection of words. Will think every plan through, has an organized mind, is well-grounded and not too deeply rooted in her religion, instead gives herself some flexibility. Artistic and quick witted.
Familiar(s) (if applicable): a male porcupine adolescent named Ash and a chipmunk named Chamomile, and a baby Jackalope/skvader (who she rescued after she [the jackalope] was hit by a car) named Holly
Other: Lives in her own flat about a twenty minute walk away from her university, where she is studying alternative healing methods and naturopathic remedies. She works part-time at a witch-run tea shop/café named The Tea Shoppe. Plays a variety of musical instruments, and loves watching the Perytons in Central Park, who have become accustomed to her presence by now and let her touch and feed them.

I'll probably just keep the minimum at five and see how many people join, cut it off when things start to get chaotic, but not a number bigger than eight
