"Oh! I never told you I could talk to animals, did I? This is my friend Blackberry." The robin nodded politely. "He was just telling me that he found a mate, isn't that lovely?"

Fawn Yeet

"Oh! Cool, Robbie Rotten!"

@Fraust

"It's one of the reason's I'm called Robin, actually. Blackberry, this is Hashy, be nice." Blackberry flew over to Hashy, sitting on her shoulder and preening his feathers

@German_Boats

Hazel smiled at the bird. "That's one beautiful creature."

@Fraust

Robin smiled back at her. "Yes… I told you that I can speak to animals, right? I think you asked once because I go to the forest every morning. The deer really are quite interesting."

Fawn Yeet

"It's really pretty, Robbie!"

@Fraust

Blackberry played with a strand of Hashy's hair before hopping onto her head, twittering in a way that sounding as though he were laughing. Robin smiled at the bird again. "What are you doing, Blackberry? I know her hair's messy, but it isn't a nest."

@German_Boats

Hazel laughed, and leaned on a bookshelf, causing a book to fall off. Picking it up, she saw it was a book about gems. "Hey Robin, you said this was a ruby, right?"

@Fraust

"What is your new mate's name, Blackberry?" The bird chirped once. "Maple? That's a lovely name. Is she pretty?" Robin grinned playfully and Blackberry flew to his shoulder. "Of course she is." Robin stroked Blackberry's head, and the bird closed his eyes contentedly. Robin looked over at Hazel. "Yes, it's a ruby. Why?"

@German_Boats

"A book on gems. Gimme a second." she said, sitting down. "Okay, Rubies are the birthstones of July… The most valuable are a full rich red with blue tones. Thats pretty cool actually! Uh… Hm… It's EXTREMELY rare to find a perfectly shaped ruby. Here, Lemme see the ring!" she said, putting the book down and taking it from Robin. She gently popped the gem out of the gold band and looked over it carefully. She put it back in, and handed it to Robin. "Its a perfect ruby!" she said, awestruck.

@Fraust

"Nice! How many carats is it?" Blackberry inspected the ruby, cocking his head to the side slightly

@German_Boats

"Not sure." she mumbled, opening the book again. She snatched the ring ( AGAIN ) from Robin, and looked it over more carefully. Slowly, she slipped it on her finger. Suddenly, she was no longer in the study. None of them were. They were all in an open field, not a tree in sight. Just field. Hazel shrieked and fell onto her bum.

@Fraust

"Hazel!" Robin jumped up and ran towards her. "Are you okay?!" Hazel had collapsed as soon as she put on the ring. He tried to shake her awake to no avail

@German_Boats

Hazel stood. ( Scratch that, she's alone in the field. ) "Golly heck…" she murmured. The field was beautiful, and when she looked at the pink and orange sky she realized that the sun was rising. She gazed at the ring. Did it do this to me? she thought. Then to experiment, she took it off. Suddenly, she was in her study again.

@Fraust

Robin looked down at Hazel, his blue eyes filled with worry. Blackberry looked down from his shoulder, twittering incessantly

@German_Boats

"WOAH!" Hazel yelled, jumping up. "ROBIN! COME HERE!" she said, and she grabbed his hand. "Hold onto my shoulder!" she said, and he obeyed. Carefully, she slipped the ring back onto her finger. Once again, they were in the beautiful field.

@Fraust

Robin looked around in wonder, not letting go of Hazel's shoulder. "What is this place…?"

@German_Boats

"I have no clue!" cried Hazel, lifting her hands in the air causing Robin's to slide off her shoulder. Both were still in the field. She began to run around, and she rolled in the soft grass. The sun was higher now, causing a soft white glow to wash over the beautiful field.

@Fraust

Robin was unsure how to react to this. He looked around for animals to talk to and spotted a deer. He started walking towards it. "Hello? Do you know where we are?" The deer stared at him blankly. "Can you understand me?" It simply blinked. "Oh no… I can't talk to animals here!"

@German_Boats

"No," replied the deer. "But we can talk to you." it said, walking up. Hazel yelped, and yanked Robin back.

@Fraust

Robin breathed a sigh of relief. "Oh, thank goodness! You scared me for a second." He smiled at the deer

@German_Boats

( I love Robin's attitude! He reminds me of Charles Wallace from A Wrinkle In Time! )
"Well…" Hazel breathed, letting go of Robin's shoulders. "Mr… Deer? Where are we?" she asked.

@Fraust

(Lol yeah, that was a good book)
The deer responded, "In the land of the ruby ring. Its name is not important. Many good things reside here, but as does a great evil." The deer shook his head mournfully. "Alas, this land is tainted with evil."

@German_Boats

"The ruby- oh my gosh." Hazel whispered. "What… What sort of evil?"

@Fraust

The deer shook his head again. "We do not speak of it. It is very dark… And it is growing. If left as it is, it may even spread into your world soon." He turned and leaped away, having said what he thought was necessary

@German_Boats

"Wait!" Hazel called, but the deer disappeared behind a hill. "Robin, this is… I think I should take the ring off." she said hesitantly.

@Fraust

"Wait! You heard what he said! Something about a 'dark evil' that could spread into our world! We have to stop it! I… don't really know how though…"

@German_Boats

"Of course you don't know HOW Robin, you don't know what it is!" she protested.

@Fraust

Robin stepped away from Hazel a bit from her sharp tone, looking a bit sheepish. "Well, no… but we could find out, right? Surely we can do something?" Hazel was looking at him like he was an idiot and he looked away, suddenly quiet

@German_Boats

Hazel's eyes softened. She hated when she made Robin feel bad. "Fine. We'll try and find another form of communication to tell us what happened." she said, placing her hand on his shoulder. "But if it gets to dangerous, we're leaving, okay?"
