Jesse glares down hard at Elodie, stepping away from her touch, not used to someone caring. And also jot used to being touched unless it's romantic.
"Call me that again and ill shove my foot so far up your ass you won't sit for days" she growls, looking away and crossing her arms.
Her face heats up and her cheeks turn a little red.
"It's because I wanted you to get sleep" she buffs, annoyed

Jez followed him up the latter, sitting down on the cemented roof for a second.
His eyes go towards the burning building "it's not too strong but it's definitely spreading. So what was that thing you were talking about?" He asked looking back up to Gus, though from the corner of his eyes he saw a figure on the roof of the building.
He didn't mind it at first but after doing a double-take he scrambles to his feet. "Gus the roof," he says, looking wide-eyed at the figure. He couldn't make out the figure too well. but well. enough to tell it was human.

Gus caught the urgency in Jez's voice and whipped around, following his gaze. When he saw the figure, he quickly trained his binoculars on it and let out a hiss of concern. "Shoot. That kid's treed for sure."
A moment later there was a crash, and he spotted a screamer circling below the building, trying to find a way up. "Oh, shoot. Jez, we gotta get over there quick. Looks like it's time to learn how t' use that rifle."

Jasper let out a scream of terror everytime the screamer slammed itself into the window of the building, cracking the window more every time it did, jasper just curled up on the rooftop, holding her knees to her chest not knowing what to do, or if she could mutter the strength and courage to kill it and not just stand there paralyzed, she really was gonna die, she was gonna die…that's all she could think of in the moment.
The screamer seemed to be making more and more progress, the window close to shattering.

Jez shakes his head "you do it. We don't have time for me to learn" he exclaims, panic setting in his chest as his eyes glued to the girl "we gotta figure out how to get up there" he says, her scream making his stomach churn.
shes gonna die if we don't get there in time… Shit

Gus chewed his lip for a second, knowing he'd never been great at hitting a target from this distance. But there was no time to run closer, and anyway it was far safer to fight the monster from above then on equal ground. Maybe he could at least distract it and drive it away from the house long enough to rescue the girl.
Shoving the binoculars at Jez, he got down on one knee for stability and took aim at the monster. It was slamming against the building repeatedly, luckily not paying attention to anything else. Gus took a slow breath, held as still as he could, and pulled the trigger. The gunshot echoed across the rooftops, and a split second later the screamer gave a sudden jerk as if struck. Gus was already rushing to reload and shoot again. "I got 'im! Jez, try to get it t' come over here so I can kill it. We gotta hurry or the fire will do all the work for it."

Jez takes the binoculars in his shaky hands. He wasn't normally this anxious but there was someone else's life on the line other than his own.
"Whaddya want me to do? Shout at it? Maybe I should make another molotov" he says sarcastically before trying to think of something to do.
"Wait…hold on ive got an idea. Though it's probably a real shitty one" he says rushing to the ladder and into the building.
He looks for the fire alarm the stores and buildings like this normally had on one of the walls.
Soon he found the big red rectangular fire alarm on the wall.
"You'd better work" he says breaking the glass with his elbow and pulling down the lever.
The loud, rather annoying ringing echoed through the store and out into the streets.
yes. Okay let's go
He rushes up the ladder and peeks his head out so Gus could hear him "yell at me later if we get 5 screamers on our tails" he exclaims

Despite himself Gus almost laughed. "I will and that's a promise," he hollered, letting off another shot at the confused screamer. By now it had turned and was shambling towards them with a slow but unstoppable determination. "Here's hopin' I knock it down 'fore it gets too close. Okay Jez, why don't you try circlin' around an' seein' if you can get to that kid while I keep this thing busy?"

"Got it" he exclaims, rushing downstairs and grabbing a hachet from.his bag before busting through the back metal door of the building. (He didn't break it. He just opened it real fast)
He circles the building and peered out onto the street, deciding it was best to circle the next building over to get farther from the screamer.
He eventually crossed the street and runs into far side fire exit that lead up to the roof, doors every floor had doors on the side of the long metal staircase.

She noticed when the slamming stop and he heard the screech when in reared back from the side of the building she was on and she turned her head as the screamer went towards the other building, and she looked over squinting her eyes and just seeing a snipper,
people..? Good…or bad?

Jez eventually reached the top, the smoke burning his eyes and throat.
He slams the door open, stumbling out onto the rooftop and coughing, tears by smoke stinging his eyes.
He takes a deep breath and looks at the girl "hey I'm here to help" he says through coughs, leaning over with his hands on his knees, his chest heaving from the smoke.

Jesse scoffs "watch your mouth whore. I'll do what I want" she growls, looking down on her before turning away and running her fingers over her eyebags, a little insecure now.
I'm fucking hot. I dont look like shit She thought before going to look out of the window, only able to see a small corner of the building from here.
that things still goin huh… anyone who was in there is surely dead by now. Sucks to suck

Out of the corner of his eye, Gus saw Jez disappear around the building, then reappear a moment later on the roof, coughing hard. "Dangit," he muttered. He'd forgotten his friend's sensitivity to smoke and wished he could switch places with him. But there was nothing that could be done now except get rid of this screamer as fast as possible. He shot again, aiming for the spine as Jez had mentioned offhand. At least now it was close enough that he could hit it easily and not waste any bullets. A couple more, and surely it would be dead or at least too weak to fight.

She screamed again when the door was busted open, before realizing it was a human, a human human, not a screamer, she wasn't sure if she wanted to trust him, she couldn't remember the last time a human had been nice to her…but she noticed how he was really suffering with the smoke, and she crawled her way over to him, looking up at him with uncertain eyes. "it does better to stay low to the ground there's not as much smoke, maybe if we could make it down the stairs..?" She spoke to him, keeping her sleeve over her mouth, to filter out the smoke.

"Yeah" he says through a wheeze, his fist pounding to his sternum for a second before catching his breath.
He couldn't stand the scratching in the back of his throat and lungs but he tried his best to ignore it.
"Yeah that's a good idea. Come on I'll get you out of here." His voice scratchy. He holds out his hand for her to grab "My friends the sniper over on the roof if that building. He's real nice" he says reassuringly, noticing the uncertainty in her.

She hesitates seemingly wanting to grab his hand, she reaches for it before moving to just crawl over to the staircase next to him, like, the door that leads into the building, she moves to go on just her feet and keeping her head low as she descends down the stairs carefully and waits for Jez at the bottom of the staircase, out of the view of the door frame.

He follows her down the stairs, reaching his collar to his mouth and over his nose, wishing there was something he had to protect his eyes, tears falling down his dark cheeks.
He reaches the bottom and spots the girl, coughing a little less now.
"Here out this door. We're staying in the dollar store nearby. We'll slip into.the alley!" He says over the fire and crashing.
He opens the big metal door and holds it open for her to.slip through before him.

She nods swiftly, moving to exit the door trying to focus on the dollar store shop she needed to go to and just moving into the alley way and trying to hide in there, waiting for Jez.

Gus saw the screamer give a lurch and stumble, as its body was now severely damaged by the close-range attack. He now stood directly above it, one boot braced against the ledge of the roof as he fired yet again and shot it right through its head. As it reeled back, he looked up and spotted Jez coming back out of the house with the girl. Relieved, he gave them a big wave and gestured for them to take the long way around to avoid the screamer. It looked very weak, but he wasn't going to risk it turning on them.

Jez follows along with the girl, stopping in the street to give Gus a wave, dropping the shirt from his mouth as he did. He smiled at him, a little too happy to see him…though that was before he saw the screamer. Making a disgusted face He turns back, going along with the girl.
"This way" he says leading her to the back door, opening it. "Stay in here. I gotta help.my friend. It's okay it's safe. There's some food and candy if you'd like some too" he says, his voice calmer. He was trying his best to make her feel safe

She almost froze in fear at the sight of the screamer she bit down hard on her lip to keep back any noise that would alert it and just followed after Jez, moving into the place of the door he opened, nodding, and figdeting with her hands.
"Um…b-be safe.." she stuttered out, more panicky then when she was trying to talk to him earlier, though when she heard the word food she immediately went to go find some.

Jez nods to her before quickly slipping around the front of the building to see the screamer weakly thrashing. He waves his arms, hatchet in hand.
"Hey assbutt! " He hollered to the screamer "look over here. I taste amazing" he winks at the screamer

Despite its wounds, the screamer turned with surprising speed, its tiny eyes searching for the source of the shout. With a gurgling roar, it dragged itself forward, aiming to take a swipe at Jez as it got close.
"I got your back," Gus called, trotting along the roof to keep up with it. "Careful Jez! It's a tough one!"

Don't mind her, she's just grabbing every bread related food product, completely glazing past the candy. She's just eating man, she's so hungry and she hasn't had anything but stale bread and maybe some water since she's seen people last.

Jez tries to duck out of the way but his forearm got caught in its line of fire, slashing a good few layers of skin.
Luckily it was his left arm, so while he was in agoanizing pain, the adrenaline pumping through his chest dulled the pain for a few seconds as he took a swing at its neck, slicing the leathery skin open with the blade.

The screamer's angry cry was cut off abruptly. It fell, writhing and struggling to strike one more time, but it had been wounded too grievously and at last it subsided into a motionless heap. A quickly spreading red stain covered the concrete beneath it.
Gus was already coming down the ladder. "Awright, we done it! That was like somethin' from a movie!" He dropped the last few feet and went over to Jez, trying to catch his breath. "You okay? Yow, that thing really took a chunk outta you. C'mon inside, we can stop that alarm and patch you up a bit."
