"She's fine. That's the weird part. The chemicals had no effect on her, it was like saving someone who merely almost drowned in water." The man adjusted his glasses. "We'll be keeping her here until her legal guardian comes to sign her out."
Windows (one on one)
Ferran nodded. "Can….can I see her?"
"No."
"Why not?"
"Because you can't."
"Why?!"
The doctor scoffed and shuffled away.
Ferran stared at him. "He didn't answer me."
Daveed patted his shoulder. "She's fine. He's just a jerk."
Marlowe woke up to shouting. Sarah's shouting. Oh crap. She stared at her aunt from her hospital bed and bit her lip. "Hey."
"Marlowe Juniper Cosima Frank. We're going to have a word about this tomorrow."
Ferran covered his ears. Lordy can that woman shout any louder?
Marlowe got out of the bed and started to walk out of the room, following Sarah. She waved to Ferran and numbly accepted her fate to be grounded for her whole life.
Ferran ran up to her. "Hey."
"Hey, Ferrari." She stopped walking and stared at him, her makeup runny and washed and dripping off of her face. "I'm probably going to take tomorrow off from school."
"Okay." He bit his lip. "Can I…come over?"
"This late? I don't think so."
"I meant….tomorrow…." He shrugged. "I don't have to if you don't want to."
"Have fun on your day without me, Ferran. You can be without me for once and actually have freedom to have fun." Sarah grabbed Marlowe's arm and started to leave, a bit annoyed. Marli waved goodbye and smiled.
Ferran sniffed and waved. But…I can't have fun without you…
She got into the house and headed straight for the bathroom, deciding to take a nice long shower before Sarah could yell at her.
Ferran headed back home, Daveed with his arm over his shoulders. "Man I'm sorry your date went wrong."
"We were not on a date Dav."
"Whatever you say."
Marlowe turned on the water, closing her eyes and expecting to feel the droplets washing away the makeup on her face, but she didn't feel anything. She looked up and felt her heart stop. The water was floating. The soap was floating. She was starting to lift off the ground too.
Marlowe closed her eyes and counted to ten, her stomach starting to feel like it had been poisoned.
Ferran waved goodbye to Daveed and pulled out his phone.
FERRAN: How're you doing?
He texted.
She opened her eyes again and fell to the ground, the water rushing once more. She took a quick shower and changed into her pajamas, flopping onto her bed and checking her phone.
MARLICIOUS: Fine, just took a quick shower.
FERRAN: Good. I really want to come over and check on you tomorrow if that's alright?
Uhh. Marlowe groaned and stared at her hands. She had to be sure of what had happened earlier.
MARLICIOUS: Nah, it's okay bro
FERRAN: See you tomorrow :D
MARLICIOUS: I said no bro, go live ur life bruh, hang out with Dav, man
FERRAN: No. It's no fun without you.
Gah, just give up, Ferran. Marlowe went over to the window and slid it open, throwing a pebble onto Ferran's window.
Ferran huffed and threw open his own. "If you aren't gonna let me hang out with you I'm gonna cry."
