First time writing romance. Any tips?

It's a very light romance. They'll probably never kiss or anything (Because I'm going to kill one of them :P) But I'm here to accept any advice that I can use now and in the future. Just tell me anything. Tell me what writers do wrong and what people could do better and such (Keep this appropriate though)
Thanks!

make it VERY awkward!

YES

Make it realistic for the love of all things sacred. Friends to lovers works the best.

And it does not have to be really awkward.

It doesn’t have to, but I think it’s fun if it is

Can we have more info btw? Ages, status of relationship before etc.

A little bit of awkward is endearing (think Newt's attempt to compliment Tina by comparing her eyes to a salamander's)
Too much awkward becomes cringey and secondhand embarrassing (think the intro to Ritalin Flirting where James and Whitney can barely speak 2 consecutive words to each other without stammering and talking over each other)

Thanks, guys! (The more my story has developed the less that this is a part of the story but I still really appreciate the help!)
