Im getting notifications from a bunch of different threads I haven't spoken in and when I check it says "Auto-follow is enabled" Or something like that. Is it a thing for popular threads? Or is it random?

I think you can turn that off by going to the forum settings page. For me that's a cog icon up the top right on mobile.
