Do “@“s Notify Users?

If I mention someone by their username in the forums, does that user receive a notification of this? I had assumed so, and also assumed the reason I never got any “User A has mentioned you in thread B” notifications was because people were only @Riorlyne-ing me in threads I was already subscribed to, so the ‘new post’ notification overrode the ‘mention’ notification.

But earlier this week I saw myself mentioned in a thread I was not subscribed to, and did not receive a notification for that. So my question is, is this normal?

If not, I’d love for this feature to be working. But if this is normal, is there any benefit in “@“ing someone?

I don’t think it does work, Riorlyne, but I agree. It would be wonderful if it worked.

This is something that is intended to work, but I think the lack of limits on usernames (e.g. length and special characters) is causing issues. I will revisit it soon when I look at username requirements.

Thanks, @andrew (Our Supreme Lord and Overseer) ! This would be a really handy feature. :)
