Sci-Fi weapons based of Fantasy Weapons

I need suggestions for how I would twist fantasy weapons so they look and work like sci-fi weapons

You could make the fantasy weapons have an energy source that isn't magical. Maybe the weapon looks more steampunk and only reaches full potential if it's fed with blood. The weapon could have the soul of a fire elemental trapped inside, but it looks like a shard of glass and needs to feed off of another living thing. If you want to make it look sci-fi I would go for laser guns or maybe swords made of pure energy, but a streamlines design would work well. For making it work like a sci-fi weapon it would have to be some sort of advanced technology. I hope this helped!

choose any weapon and just make it lasers. Like… lightsaber is basic, obviously, but consider… a plasma ax.

you should make biotechnology sword (living metal sword) it is basicily a alien sword it is able to stretch and change shape
