star wars, but more scientifically believable

so SCIENCE ME! any ideas on how to make a space sci fi story more logical?

@WaffleWizard

I'm curious to see if there is a way. My favorite part of writing fantasy and sci fi is that I don't have to explain anything.

well my biggest pet peeve has always been the laser guns and lightsabers, as cool as they are, I don't think it's possible to make them like that.
on the bright side, if you want a lightsaber, make a sword out of tungsten (a metal who's melting point is 6192 degrees F) that heats itself up to like a thousand degrees, now that will cut.

@Yamatsu

If you really want a lightsaber that would work, it's not a laser or energy sword. According to one video I watched, you would need a superheated noble gas like Argon surrounded by a magnetic field to prevent it from escaping. That swoosh noise you hear might be the vacuum that sucks the gas back inside the handle!

that is actually awesome…

@Hi-My-Names-Chelsea

Lightsabers could just be neon antennae that are superheated. Or just uranium that's experiencing high amounts of gamma radiation.

I feel like 70% is going over my head, but I also feel like I only think I understand the other 30%
