《overview》
Ansila
apparitions (medieval tech fantasy/romance)
main protagonist
cis male (he/him)
bisexual
《personality》
He's just a good, soft boy. There's not a lot of caveats to that, just things that come out of it. He's not one of those "mess with my friends and you'll pay" types, he actually lets people take advantage of him way too often. He's bad at making friends and a bit socially awkward. He always does the wrong thing for the occasion, or that's what he feels. He feels like his aspirations are setting him apart from his peers, who mostly work labor and only feel like starting a family. They are, of course, people with their own opinions, but none of them really want to become astronomers, you dig? He really wants to move out of the large town he grew up in and live somewhere more bustling and where no one knows him, but he used to be impulsive as a younger teen and didn't really know where he wanted to go with his life so he just... Didn't, and shot himself in the foot by doing that. He feels dissatisfied with his life and like he's just doing the same thing every day and he'll never be able to break out of the cycle.
But like, he is Nice. So put that on your comma trait lists.
He wants to be a librarian or astronomer as a career. He wants to find someone he can settle down with in the end. He wants to have some friends other than bugs (but doesn't know where to start).
He is just too nice. He's a doormat and never tells anyone no even if he's uncomfortable. He doesn't even know what his boundaries are, much less enforce them, and the only time he tells someone to stop doing something to him was when he told Saura to not kiss him because she might get in trouble. He has no sense of self-preservation whatsoever, but that doesn't lead to fun reckless moments, it just leads to overworking himself and beating himself up over nothing.
He's good at identifying stuff (constellations, bugs, plants sorta). He's also good at communicating complicated concepts to people in simple ways. To make that simpler, he would be a good science teacher for kids. He's good at reading simply because he does it so much. He's a very likable person overall.
He loves the stars and everything to do with them. He's very interested in astronomy and wants to do that as a career someday. He also really likes bugs, and plants to some degree. The first thing he does in a new place is try to figure out what the bugs are (so he can make friends). He also really likes reading and being in the library.
N/A (although to be fair if tumblr saw him they'd immediately cry autistic coded, but he's not. that's canon. word of god. trust me on this one)
At the start of the story, he's a nice soft boy that's a bit of a pushover and everyone in town really likes.
The first major change is meeting Saura and being taken to the capitol with her to learn to be a good fake noble and not accidentally out the whole ruse. He starts to withdraw a bit, not wanting to talk about his real feelings, and gets more argumentative with people around him.
When he meets Pere he starts to think that maybe he has his thoughts wrong, and starts to believe some more radical things both because he's talking to Pere who is totally not a terrorist gais I just politically align with them, and because he's becoming frustrated with the situation he's in and just wants out.
By the end of the story he's soft on the outside but if you push him too much he will push back and isn't afraid to speak his mind or get himself out of a bad situation.

《opinions》
He doesn't have a lot of strong opinions on stuff, but when he does it probably leaves other people scratching their head over the cognitive dissonance. Internally, though, he feels he is very consistent. Most of his morals revolve around making sure he doesn't harm anyone/anything else outside of what he has to. He believes in being kind to people, and one of his biggest philosophies is "killing them with kindness" which starts to fall apart later in the story.
He's pretty much agnostic, he thinks there's something out there but doesn't quite know what, and doesn't think about it deeply. He doesn't mock or dislike people who are religious or are atheist, he just doesn't agree.
He thinks a lot about the well-being of people lower on the socio-economic scale like he is/was, and considers the needs of academics a lot too since his life goal is to be one. As such, sometimes he's stuck in an ideological tug-of-war between the two different sides, because academics and peasants tend to have different opinions on things. Because of this his strong opinions are relatively across the board, some being diametrically opposed to each other. Later in the story Pere radicalizes him a little bit. It do be like that sometimes.
He knows, in his brain, that being vegetarian would probably be more cohesive with his ideology, but god does he love bacon. Bacon is really good.
His favorite flower is a calla lily. He really wants a dress that looks like one.
His favorite color is yellow. He knows it will never work with his skin tone so he doesn't wear it, but he wishes he could.
His favorite time of year is September, because he thinks it's the perfect balance between summer and fall.
He prefers masculine people, in general. GNC women are his jam. Stereotypically masculine dudes are also his jam. He likes Saura because while she dresses feminine, she acts relatively masculine. He thinks that sort of thing is hot as hell.
N/A
《relationships》
All of his friends are bugs. Except Pere for like, a month.
Saura at the beginning of the story, Pere in the last third.
He has a good relationship with his parents (who are still together), but he feels a bit strained by still living with them (beginning of the story).
Saura (last 2 thirds)
Saura kinda sorta, they're not truly enemies because somewhere deep down they both still care for each other, but they really really don't want to be in the situation they're in with each other.
Do the bugs count?

《appearance》
:farquaad pointing meme: twink
for real though, he's a GNC dude that is sometimes mistaken for a woman. Such is the life of Dude Wearing Dress
He's average height and thin, if he was any taller he'd look lanky. He's not very muscular.
He has almond-shaped eyes, an upturned nose, and thin lips. His features are, overall, relatively feminine looking. He can be (and is) mistaken for a woman not infrequently.
His hair is a black color that looks a bit blue when it catches the light. It's thin and straight, and cut into a slightly past chin length bob even the whole way around. He has straight bangs on the right side of his face and pushed back on the left side. He has slight sideburns but otherwise clean-shaven.
His eyes are a desaturated blue (a natural color, not very striking)
Just a human person lmao
He has a cool skin tone, and is a little bit pale (white, but not extremely pale, you can tell he's outside often).
He is very GNC (gender-nonconforming) in his dress. For everyday wear, he likes blouses and trousers (not jeans, which aren't in fashion where he is, and are intended for manual labor which he isn't doing). He likes neutral and earthy tones like browns, creams, and oranges with pops of color. For formal wear, he wears either a button down shirt and slacks or later in the story, mostly dresses. For formal wear, he likes lilacs and reds (not together).

《backstory》
do you honestly think i give my ocs birthdays. nah fam. i have this here to complete the aesthetic. probably somewhere in late spring.
His childhood wasn't hard, but it wasn't easy either. He's lived in the same city all his life until the plot kicks off, but his family still moved house a lot because they found they couldn't afford it. They've fallen on better times now, but the anxiety from their past still looms over the whole house. Luckily, Ansila was too young to remember the worst of it.
Mandatory schooling ends at 15, after which students can choose to specialize and continue learning, but they don't have to. He dropped out after mandatory schooling ended, and has regretted it ever since, but felt he had to do it to help support his family.
Since he left school he's been working around town. Most of the people with simple, get it done in a couple days jobs know where to find him and that he'll probably be willing to work it into his schedule. He's not overly skilled in any work, but can do a lot of things a little bit.
N/A
《extra》
He doesn't really have any, but later in the story when he has a last name he's called Foreza Ansila
His powers come from the stars, and the things he can do are associated with that. The most common thing he does is make fire (cause stars are just... fire), but he can also manifest small "stars" basically like how people see stars when they're stargazing.
He is kind of sort of a noble. What I mean by this is; he's some random dude at the beginning of the story but Saura is an ~impulsive queen~ and because of her he has to be introduced as a "long lost noble" so no one gets murdered (long story). He isn't actually a noble, and is low-ranking amongst nobles, but he does get to live in Saura's house and glare at her whenever they pass each other in the hallway.
He doesn't care a lot about physical affection, but really likes when his partner compliments him. He is entirely willing to cuddle if the situation seems appropriate, but he really just wants people to be nice to him tbh.
Beginning of the story he does odd jobs around town for some extra cash. Later on, technically unemployed.
Oh yeah, he's 17.
His name is originally Gothic (not like goth fashion, like the Goths). his assigned last name is occitan, if i remember right??? its either occitan or catalan :)
《notes》
the naming conventions are sorta different in this universe. Most people don't have last names, only nobles do. Last names come first if a person has one.
dark academia type music, and a lot of wiremux's mixes (mostly the urban love melancholy playlist and the dark americana playlists)
