Quinn comes across initially as rough around the edges. Sometimes she seems cold, detached, and even cocky - other times she just seems like a complete and utter mess. She has a undeniable temper and a rebellious streak with a penchant for addictive tendencies, but on the other hand she's a fiercely loyal friend and has the absolute best interests in mind for those around her.

Loyal, Giving - For the people she cares about, Quinn would do anything. She's the kind of friend you'd call at 2am to bail you out of jail, fully expecting her to show up and ask no questions... even if she's bailing you out with the last bit of money in her wallet. Though she doesn't have the tendency to be terribly motivated, protecting and helping those close to her is a huge motivator.

Flexible, adaptable - Quinn is flexible and good at adapting to different situations as they come. She likes to roll with the punches and figure things out day by day rather than have a clear plan for the future.

Unapologetic - Quinn is just who she is and she won't apologize for it to anyone. Going along with this she tends to be quite stubborn and she refuses to apologize for things she doesn't believe she did wrong, ever.

Reserved, aloof - Generally Quinn comes across as standoffish and cold to strangers. She isn't the type to let people in easily, often seeming disinterested.

Emotional - Despite how she seems around most people, Quinn is actually extremely sensitive and emotional. Sometimes it feels to her like she experiences every emotion amplified to a painful degree. She's not afraid to tell the people she loves exactly how she feels about them, but on the other hand she's just as quick to call out someone she dislikes. Though she's the first one in a room laughing, at her absolute worst her emotional outbursts can be unpredictable and extreme.

Self-destructive - Quinn is often completely oblivious when it comes to what's in her own self-interest, and she has a knack for methodically sabotaging everything good in her life - or at least that's what she'd claim. She's a bit of a thrill-seeker, sure, but even more than that she has a knack for maladaptive behaviors when it comes to relationships, often pushing people away when they get too close to her.

Quinn's birth was a complete accident. From what bits of information she's gathered throughout her life, her mother Melissa - just 22 when she found out she was pregnant, the result of a one-night stand with a man she never told. Still living with her parents at the time - she was strongly urged to terminate her pregnancy. After extended arguments, she made it clear she fully intended on having this child whether her parents supported her or not. All they wanted was her best interest - so of course they caved, insisting Melissa raise her child alongside them for as long as she needed.

Not long after Quinn was born her mother began dating a man named Christopher, though they decided to not go through with the hassle of getting married; Melissa's parents were quite fond of Christopher and let them move in with them temporarily. A house of five quickly became too crowded and the family began work to convert their dilapidated garage into a small guest house. Melissa and Chris were both hard-working, but without any education past high school diplomas (truthfully, neither of them were known for having high aspirations either), and living in a town that thrived primarily off tourists, they often found themselves working seasonal dead-end jobs. It became obvious they couldn't support their family in a traditional setting and they ended up settling down permanent with Melissa's parents.

As Quinn grew up, improvements to the garage was made - over the years, it rapidly became more of a guest house than a garage with Christopher's background in carpentry. She grew up knowing Christopher as her father, despite learning early on that he wasn't biologically. When she was 10, her mom and Chris gave birth to her brother, Lucas.

Overall her childhood wasn't a bad one, but she often felt alienated, especially when her brother was born. Her parents were not bad parents, but seemed to have a slightly detached parenting style, and often her care fell on her grandparents, especially when they were working. Perhaps due to their age they were often quite lax with her, largely letting her fend for herself as she became a preteen, their focus on her toddler brother who needed much more supervision - as long as she was in the guest house they were confident she was fine. This led to her sneaking out quite often, especially to see her closest childhood friend who visited in the summers. Her immense freedom as a preteen helped foster a more rebellious side of her that her parents had trouble dealing with as she got older.

They were also lax with punishing her, much to her delight. As her brother got older he was diagnosed with ADHD and required much more supervision and attention than she ever did. She doesn't fault them for it but recognizes it likely contributed to her strong resistance to authority and being told what to do.

A good bit of her childhood and teen years were spent outside. Her family wasn't wealthy enough for vacations, nor did they push her into expensive hobbies. She spent most of her time at the ocean, or in the woods, or wandering the small town streets of Cedar Cove. This town is all she's ever known, and though she has aspirations beyond it, part of her doubts she'll ever really leave - so she strives to make the most of it.
