Overview
Blair Serapis (Lin Zhiyou)
Innocent bystander becomes the problem
Blair Serapis is very quiet in nature. For the most part, they seem to stay within their neighborhood and city, sometimes venturing off for curiosity's sake. He carries around with him a book and a pencil, jotting down various artifacts of nature that he comes across. They stick to themselves and have almost never gone out to big events besides lunch dates with his mother or goes out with what seems to be one of his only friends: Ebony Fidèle. When at home, they continue filling out their Book of Wilds or work on a project, mostly to sell but sometimes to hang up on their walls.
After the incident with their brother, Wren Serapis, Blair stays with their mother and helps her pay the bills. As a mercenary, he picks up small gigs in and around his city, doing miscellaneous chores ranging from rescuing pets to killing loose Prials. He also has art commissions open--they don't bring in a whole lot of money, but they help with extra funds to spend on art supplies or new clothes. Other than work, he visits the nearby library often or head to Battery City bar. This is the only time they go outside of the city, and they always go with Ebony, nearly never alone except for very few occasions. He goes, gambles a bit (presumably for the cash), then comes home late at night. In comparison to his art commissions, his monthly poker games rake in much more cash.
At least, that is what his neighbors know of him.
In the dead hours of night, Blair runs more curious tasks. His job helped him get around and make different connections--so, he steals. Blair explores a lot of places like this, going around to different houses or buildings or establishments in new cities. They meander around the area before grabbing their client's requested item and leaving as quickly as possible. It works in favor of his actual goal: finding his deceased brother.
Wren wasn't dead, he knew it, he felt it in his bones and blood. Going around from city to city would help him track Wren down and figure out what exactly happened that night he lost Wren, how his father died, and what he has forgotten--what he has lost.

Looks
5’11”
Black, the kind that looks dark brown in the right light.
Long, straight hair that collects way too much static. He puts it into a low ponytail for the majority of the time, but sometimes he’ll wear it in a bun and lets other people mess around with it if they want.
Black
Deuce Ace
Suit: Black Spades
Ace: Silvertongue (can understand any language)
Blair usually fights with a rope dart, though in close combat, he prefers daggers. He fights fairly quick, but slow enough for opponents to have a slight edge on him. They make use of more smart tactics and distance, as well as quiet or assassin-like form. In the case of using daggers, his physical strength is about average, so he can hold up just fine in hand-to-hand combat. He tries avoiding confrontation at any cost though, only resorting to it as a last effort, but fights fairly swiftly and escapes as quickly as he can.
Very tan all over. He has a few tan lines from wearing long sleeves and gloves as well as his gloves, but he's naturally fairly tan. His skin tone changes around his scar and appears darker.
He has broad shoulders, is tall, and has a square build. He sort of looms over people, and he has poor posture. At first glance, he’s gigantic and terrifying because of his facial expression and his stature, but the closer you get the more you realize he’s the one that’s terrified of you.
A large scar across his left cheek that opens up to expose his teeth. He also has a distinct “dead stare” if he isn’t conscious of his current expression.
His scarf that he always wears and nearly never takes off, even with close friends or family.
Later in the series, has healed self harm scars, mostly on his arms.
Nature
Blair is very quiet and cowardly in nature. He likes keeping his personal life to him and his closest friends and mostly stays out of trouble. Socially, Blair isn't actually inept--he simply doesn't like putting himself out into the spotlight.
In closer relationships, you get to see Blair be a bit more curious and adventurous. He's very driven towards his goal, even if it's hard to do when he needs to stay out of the Regime's radar. However, he likes sharing things he's found and can be described as a crow. If he finds something shiny, or something that he thinks relates to a close friend, it'll be the first thing he does when he sees them.
Sometimes, people will see him being sarcastic. This is limited to his closest friends, but Blair can be deadpan in serious and also humorous tones.
He's generally a pessimistic person, but is very supportive of his friends. He holds himself in low regards while treating others with utmost respect and positive attitude--he doesn't want to see other people behave like him, and chooses to be uplifting more often than not.
Blair is very quiet, communicating a lot with his (subconscious or not) actions rather than words. He scratches over scar when agitated and tends to talk with his hands. It’s easier to tell what he’s feeling when you’re looking at his eyes and eyebrows or paying attention to his tone.
He strives to stay away from the Regime, keeping himself, his friends, and his mother safe. However, his biggest motivator is finding Wren Serapis Wren Huang-Hui Seraph. Not believing his brother is dead, and doubting a few of the gaps in his memory, Blair has a distrust towards the Regime, and believes they might’ve altered his and his mother’s perception of the Accident in some way. The most extreme way to prove this is by finding Wren—he knows Wren is smarter than to die at the hands of Lochlainn.
Alternatively, anything that peaks his interest is something he will thoroughly investigate immediately. He likes learning about his past and the world around him, since he’s been in a coma for a good few years.
His mask stays on almost all the time, even with close friends and family. He doesn't exactly like talking about what happened to his face, and instead brings it upon himself to figure out, leaving it a burden only for him to carry.
Blair hides and cowers at every given moment. He avoids confrontation and fights like they'll kill him, even if it's a simple misunderstanding between him and a friend. He hates verbal and physical fighting, and so he often runs from his problems and lets them sit rather than confront them.
He hesitates a lot on things and ends up never being able to decide on something unless it's important to his biggest goal. Otherwise, things like choosing whether or not to head somewhere or fight for something is often left up to other people.
He focuses a lot on the minor details and has the tendency to miss the bigger picture. He analyzes things so closely and picks apart little details to the point where he can only focus on those smaller details and if they've changed or not. He shares this mentality with Elliot Vasco.
Has the tendency to not trust most of anyone. While he loves and cares for his friends and is open with them, he doesn't make new friends very easily. It's less of him thinking they have bad intentions but rather the belief that he comes with a lot of baggage (ex: his amnesia, Wren, etc.) that he isn't ready to talk about. However, his amnesia is such a core part of him that he can't exactly be friends with someone without having to explain it. Instead, he prefers to keep his distance and keep people as acquaintances.
He is extremely distrustful of the Regime, and therefore anyone who associates with the Regime.
He prioritizes people who were close to him at his young age before the incident, and he'll do anything to keep them safe. If anyone were to harm them or talk badly of them, Blair will instantly be cautious of that person. Hence, his favoritism towards people from his past.
Generally, he doesn't like big collective groups. They feel like cults to him and often put him on edge. He feels like he's in a pack of prey, and is waiting for something to come along and attack them all.
Blair is very talented at fine arts, specifically at graphite and charcoal work. He loves drawing the things he’s seen so they never escape his memory again, and he jots things down in his journal frequently.
He’s very skilled at calligraphy. In relation to that, he can copy handwriting fairly well and copy people’s tone of voice almost exactly.
Being an assassin-esque fighter, Blair can walk and generally move very quietly.
Blair has a journal he has named his “Book of Wilds,” and he writes and draws things that he comes across, including information about people.
He can knit, although not very well. His works come out decent and he’ll give them out as gifts.
Indulges in reading. Loves exploring the world and anything he can come across in any way he can, even if it means sitting down for an hour or two and reading.
Blair loves the arts. He’ll draw anything and everything.
Is sort of a trinket detector. Finds things of value fairly quickly just through pattern recognition, but he doesn’t really know what pattern he’s recognizing when this happens.
Likes: journaling, knitting/stitching, exploring, gemstones, baggy clothes, daggers, family, dumplings, abandoned places, the shade, yo-yo’s
Dislikes: loud objects (especially things that are on him, like his keys), warm weather, family, carrying heavy items, being in the spotlight, empty places (where he can't go unnoticed) The Regime
Everything (see Card Magic)
He can’t feel too much pressure on/around his scar. Mostly, it’s numb, but sometimes he’ll get a sort of phantom scratch or pain from it.
Definitely has PTSD from multiple situations. Has a few minor visual and auditory hallucinations, but has very extreme flashbacks and nightmares.
Has been diagnosed with anxiety and depression. He used to take medication, but is now off them and mainly goes to therapy. His anxiety is still fairly strong, however, and he tends to have OCD-like symptoms to cope.
Zodiac sign: Cancer
MBTI: ISFJ (beginning of story) —> INTJ (end of story)
History
July 10th (22 years old)
High school graduate. Was planning on college, but decided against it for now. He hopes to pursue more education, but right now it isn't in the forefront of his mind.
Blair was born to a well off family. At the time, he had his brother, mother, and father. They lived in a lively, lower class area, but it was home.
Mostly, his relationship with his peers and his family were very positive. Wren Huang-Hui Seraph and Blair fought quite a bit, but it was always resolved.
Ebony Evangeline Fidèle becomes his and his brother’s best friend—and while this relationship progresses, Blair is able to think of her as a sister. There has never been any sort of romantic undertone between the two, and he never tries to test it, either.
At some point, his relationship with Wren soured to the point where he would barely talk to Blair. Blair himself doesn't know why this happened, but his entire family seemed to follow suit a bit after.
The incident was a large explosion of Ace magic at his house, is what he learned when he woke up from his coma. His brother had an awakening, a very unfortunate one, and it managed to kill his father in the process.
Blair and his mother, along with Ebony, held a funeral for the two of them.
Blair does not believe Wren is dead. He decided it when he knocked on Wren's coffin and found it sounded hollow--empty.
He ends up getting a job as a mercenary, specializing in thieving, in order to stay at new locations and possibly find a clue about Wren's whereabouts.
Mercenary: specializes in thieving. He works for information, items, and money.
Social
Blair's best friend is Ebony Evangeline Fidèle. Having been childhood best friends before the incident, Blair holds her very close to his heart. It is strictly a platonic relationship, and Blair thinks of her as a sister. The two are evenly matched for each other, with Ebony being more lighthearted and outgoing than Blair is. They balance out perfectly.
Blair starts off scared of Pollux “Lux” (Tatsuhiko) Fukushima, Castor (Kazuhiko) Fukushima, and Elliot Vasco, but they manage to befriend him eventually, and become some of his closest friends. Being Council members, Castor and Lux are scary just through their position of power. Their closed-off nature only scares Blair off even more, and he perceives them as people of power, so he steers clear of them. Elliot is simply a terrifying person, and their first meeting only proved that he shouldn't be a person who Blair pisses off. This is further reinforced through his temper.
The more Castor, Lux, and Elliot get along with Blair, the more Blair opens up to them. Castor ends up being the one friend who can talk smarts with him and explore his curiosity about the world around them. Lux challenges his boundaries a lot, which at first is unnerving, but he becomes Blair's confidant over time, and one of the only two people who he shares personal or emotional information with. Elliot is very headstrong and understands his ambition to find his brother--he actually encourages Blair to do things in return when Blair encourages him. Elliot is also very interested in the people around them, and helps Blair satisfy his curiosity about people.
Wren Huang-Hui Seraph was Blair's closest friend when he was a kid. Growing up with Wren was a bit of a hassle, since Wren fought with him a lot, but Blair always held him in high regards. Wren was everything Blair wanted to be and more--he taught Blair almost everything. He may not know how Wren is now, but he holds onto the image of his younger brother dearly.
Blair doesn't know too much about his opponents. He would like to change that, but as far as he knows, Blink “Link” Stratio is quiet, Mara Quinn is cheery (eerily so), Soren Jones is psychologically analyzing all of them at once, and Vincent Cresthill is confident in about everything he does.
Wren...is Wren. Blair still thinks of him as the smart, wonderful, cool little brother he once played pirates with.
He refuses to look into Wren further.
Atheist, but never actually states this out loud. He doesn’t believe in the concept of godliness, and this he makes clear very obviously.
