Overview
Ren Nori Riddle
the chosen "enemy"
Renny, Ren-ren, Nor-nor, Nori
Female (?)
(she/her)
11
Asexual panromantic
the protagonist, the outlier, the caretaker, the bookworm
Looks
N/A
Ren Nori is 35.9kg, lighter than usual for her age, although only slightly.
Ren is a bit shorter than average at 141cm.
Ren's hair is ghostly pale, almost white blond. It has pretty much no colour to it. It's curly and cut to a chin-length bob. If she does anything with it, she pulls the top back (like S1 Amity Blight).
N/A
Ren has sweet eyes with pale pinkish irises. They're almond-shaped and angled downwards, always with a curious and almost sad look in them. She shows a lot of emotion through her eyes.
Ren is physically an albino damphir with a vampire father and a pureblood witch for a mother.
Her skin is deathly pale, almost corpse-like. The veins are easy enough to see through her skin and she doesn't tan- rather burns. She has always looked that pale.
She's an ectomorph with a rectangular body shape. She's skinny, but not unhealthily so- her foster father tries to get her to eat a regular diet. She has long limbs.
Ren's most easily identified by her hair or eyes, with their albino nature sticking out from others.
Ren always carries the slight scent of flowers and worn leather, since she spends a lot of time pressing flowers or writing in her old notebook. She also smells faintly of honey and mint because of the tea she drinks.
Nori has selective mutism and only speaks with people she trusts, such as her adoptive father and Amara. However, if that trust is broken, she will stop speaking in their presence. Even with those people though, she speaks very little. She prefers to show things through actions rather than words.
Her voice is very soft, although a little raspy from a lack of use. It flows like water once she gets going, but starts a little spotty.
Ren loves baggy clothing, sweaters and jeans over simple button-ups. She has a "soft academia" aesthetic.
Nature
Vocal
When Ren speaks, it tends to be a whisper. If the chosen topic is one with which she is familiar and can talk about a lot, she will go very quickly and run out of breath from going too long. She also uses "like" a lot, mostly when making comparisons. When people do things that she finds idiotic or tiring, she will unconsciously sigh at them or tsk, almost as if the person was a disobedient child.
Since she doesn't speak or make noise often, she doesn't have many vocal mannerisms.
Motor
Since she conveys most things through physical actions, she has a lot of motor mannerisms. When it comes to responding to a question, although she mainly responds by nodding or shaking her head, other reactions mean different things.
- Tilting her head: I don't get it.
- Tilting her head and tilting a limp outstretched hand: You're a bit off.
- Putting up a certain amount of fingers with a loose hand: I need "amount" time
- Putting up fingers with a closed fist: Giving a numbered answer
- And more
She also bobs her head whenever she's particularly focused on something or listening to music and rests her chin on her palm when she's trying to look at something that's not very clear or when she needs to think more about something as well as biting the inside of her bottom lip. Whenever something makes her feel a particularly strong emotion, she mostly expresses it by moving her eyebrows.
She tends to never make eye contact since it makes her nervous. Instead, she watches peoples foreheads or noses. She'll habitually drift off, even during a conversation, locking her eyes on something and seeming not to blink while lost in thought.
Nori moves her hands a lot as well to signify things, most of which are fairly standard movements to make it easier for others to understand. She draws absently in the margins of her notebooks, small little doodles of this or that, anything that comes to her mind when she's paying attention in class. She automatically covers her mouth whenever she smiles, perhaps a result of people making fun of her missing incisors as a child. When sitting down, she can't seem to sit straight and crosses her legs or leans back in the chair like she wants to see how far she can go. If there's something in her hands, she almost has to play with it and will sometimes chew on the ends or, if it's bendable, twist it in any way it will go.
Ren just wants things to be normal. She wants to be able to hang out with her friends and family peacefully, without people giving her nasty looks and talking behind her back. She wants to not think of everyone as a ticking time bomb around her, bound to get tired of pretending to like her.
She needs someone to show her that they don't think she'll turn out like her uncle, that she's not a bad egg. But she also needs to learn how to value herself, that her value doesn't depend on what others think of her.
Minor Flaws
Nori can be very awkward, especially when she first meets someone. She doesn't do well with unfamiliar people and has a difficult time adjusting and acting fluently. She can also be meek, unable to handle conflict and caving easily, trying to get away from a situation. She's spacey, tending to drift off into thought in the middle of interactions and staring blankly at something. She's also tactless without much experience with social situations, and has difficultly interpreting tones, although she has an astounding understanding of sarcasm and when it's being used.
Major Flaws
She has pretty bad anxiety, causing her to regularly freeze up in unfamiliar situations or situations that she has a bad history with. It also leads her to overthink a lot of things, which holds her back.
Although she doesn't want to be seen as a villain, Ren is morally grey and doesn't like a hero either. She's not tied down by the moral laws that heroes and villains are.
Fatal Flaw(s)
Ren is eternally paranoid that people are going to betray or turn their backs on her the minute she finally warms up to them. That's why she stopped talking, why she gives everyone a second glance and rarely ever a second chance.
Nori believes that she can never fit in because everyone judges her uncle's actions over her own. She doesn't quite like herself and constantly tries to make it easier for others to deal with her "unbearable presence". She believes that she's weak, that she needs to prove people wrong about her "evilness" to ever be worth something. She bases a lot of her beliefs on what others think of her.
She has quite a few personal prejudices. Bullies. Bad or neglectful parents. Ignorant adults. Needlessly spiteful adults. She grew up dealing with all of those things, with very few people meeting her steadily growing standards. If someone didn't meet one of them, they weren't good enough. She knew, of course, that some could change, but many didn't.
She can easily identify botany and has quite a bit of writing talent. She's also fairly good at arcade and board games since she plays those with her adoptive father a lot. Her magic is also rather high-level and she can perform well in most, if not all of her classes. Her baking is fairly good too, mostly from the hours of work she's put into it.
She likes pressing flowers and herbs into her old leather notebook, going to arcades, and baking as well as walking through nature. She has a particular interest in making sweet bread and muffins as well as using different types of plants for new, unique tastes.
INTP, chaotic neutral
Ren suffers from depression and anxiety, a terrible combination for a girl just entering some of the most judgemental years known. She has a very pessimistic outlook because of this and has a hard time seeing the bright side of things. She also has ADHD and struggles to stay still or focus, always trying to keep her hands occupied and having difficulty staying present in long classes. Insomnia is another thing plaguing her and falling asleep at night is always a struggle, although she gets up faster than almost anyone. Additionally, she has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder.
Social
Agnostic
N/A
Hogwarts Student
Sage green, pastels
Nori likes the orange chicken from Panda Express. She has always liked spicy foods and although fast food isn't really her thing, it's one of the best things she's tasted- she cannot, however, eat a lot of it consistently without getting tired of it.
Ren Nori's favourite possession would likely be the worn leather notebook that she writes and presses flowers in. It was a going-away gift when she finally got adopted
Ren has always been partial to a simple quarterstaff. A long-ranged weapon that could be used in various ways, strong but not flashy.
Ren loves avians, but her all-time favourite would be the fox.

History
5 March 1980
French-British
British
Before going to Hogwarts, she had skipped Kindergarten and had completed year 7 in muggle schools. She was quite intelligent and did the occasional tutoring with classmates who struggled more. She's particularly good at maths and English, though she struggles with history.
When she was 9, her foster mother took her out on a stormy night and left her in a park, probably with the hope that she would get lost and die. This left her with a fear of abandonment.
She experienced bullying throughout her school years because she was so small and an albino, unusual. Not to mention, she didn't speak and was therefore judged.
- Find the right friends.
- Find self-worth.
- Show people that she's not as bad as they think.
Family
For her eleventh birthday, she got a tuxedo cat named Mercury. Mercury is a small cat, although fully grown, with heterochromia, with a grey left eye and an amber right.
Notes
Ren is not her uncle and she knows that, but does anyone else? (Spoiler alert, the answer is no.)
