History
Basic. He can read, write, and count. Not dumb, but not a high education. (He has very nice penmanship, however—he took a secret interest in poetry.)
Nikko was raised by his father after his mother and sister died. His father was a powerful figure in The Great War and went into hiding after being on the losing side. Nikko was used for his power by his father, and at age 16 fled, leaving his brother Marcos behind.
He joined a navy-like group for Wassaer in an attempt to recover from the war, but it ended up going bust. Nikko took his knowledge of the sea and became a ferryman between the capital islands.
