Rusane is short and scrawny for his age, but he has no trouble standing out in a crowd thanks to his uniquely-colored feathers: they form a rough gradient from silver at the top of his head to dark charcoal at his toes. They are uniformly short, even on top of his head, and his near-black skin is visible in patches all over his body. His soft golden eyes have lost some of their superhuman strength thanks to all the time he's spent in the daylight, but he can get around just fine.

Rusane is as impulsive as any child, but he's especially extroverted and loves making new friends, even if it means starting conversations with random strangers. Opening up to other people is no problem at all. He can close back up very quickly if challenged, however, and tends to run and hide in his room when especially upset. He is very set in his beliefs and habits. Cleanliness is especially important to him and he hates getting his hands and face dirty. He also insists on writing in his diary every few days, recording anything and everything on his mind so the information won't be lost later.

Rusane also has a form of synesthesia that makes him hear colors. He can block it out to some extent if a place is "too loud," but most of the time he just enjoys the sounds along with the sights. Most things only produce simple tones, but magical energy in particular can sound almost musical. This is especially notable when Rusane peers into another's soul, which offers an entire song unique to the individual.

Rusane is too young to know how to fight very well. He can hunt small animals thanks to his Exulian upbringing, but that's about it.

Rusane's family originally lived in Exul, but they were flung to Ludo due to the Aida Spacetime Incident and forced to start a new life in Tengoku City. Rusane hated it at first, finding everything far too bright, crowded, and most of all, loud. He came to appreciate it a little more, though, when he met a fellow ferviexan who ran an instrument shop. Ecstatic to finally find someone he could talk to, he wound up falling in love with instruments that sounded nothing like what they had back home. Today, he plays on the streets for fun, transcribing the music he hears when he peers into the souls of passersby.
