Nio is muscular and tall

He has a dimple whenever he smiles.

A haori that's mainly blue with hints of orange. He wears black bandages around his chest and no shirt. Nio usually has pants and boots on as well.

Nio is quite soft-spoken, using an unassuming tone when speaking.
Nio tends to glare or frown, making him appear more unwelcoming than he actually is.

He doesn't often talk however, and likes to keep his sentences short. He also has a habit of touching his ear when he's flattered.

Despite how he appears, Nio has a simple goal in mind. He wants to become a great warrior of the seas. His rivalry with Tsuki Tsuki and her crew pushes him to become stronger himself, and likewise for Tsuki.

Nio comes across as apathetic and callous. While to some degree this is true, Nio is simply just not sure how to express himself.
Nio is also quite arrogant, as on several occasion, he underestimates his opponent which leads to him losing.

Pokemon
Most minks dislike Pokemon solely because Arceus banished them to be contained on a few measly islands.
There's a strong belief that Pokemon are inferior to monsters in general. The hatred for Arceus has only managed to divide monsters and Pokemon further. This is also partly a reason Nio acts arrogantly to most his enemies.

Nio is a naturally gifted fighter. From a young age, he learned to master his transformation, and can easily manipulate his Lagiacrus form.

He's also a skilled craftsman. Nio learned from his father and is further inspired by things he reads (or watches).

Nio likes sword-fighting. Much like Tsuki Tsuki, he thinks that using swords makes someone appear cooler.

Nio likes crafting things in his spare time. He often makes tiny contraptions, or invents tools he uses in battle. This interest stems from his father, who was a shipwright before he passed.

Nio's a bit of a green thumb. He doesn't have a whole garden of blossoms, but on his ship he grows his own citrus trees (which is an idea he gathered from a show he watched)

Nio is straightforward, blunt, and almost always appears unmoved.

Underneath that, he's a bit more friendly. Not on cinnamon-roll-kawaii level, but he's actually easily excitable and very nurturing.

He has scarcely any friends to call his own though, as he lacks good communication skills, and is a naturally skeptical person. Therefore, he has very few people he trusts.

Nio has no current conditions.

Previously, however, an Elder Dragon mink (Nio couldn't identify which Elder Dragon specifically) attempted to put him under the influence of their virus.

The virus itself attempted to eat out and rot Nio's brain cells, so that it could, while slowly killing him, try to force him into a frenzied bout of rage.

To prevent this from happening, Nio needed to eat doses of Nulberry while diverting the virus's efforts towards strengthening him instead.

On that note, humans seem to have more of a resistance to the virus, which may have helped Nio eventually shake it off.

His Pokemon are his closest friends. Surprisingly, though he looks down on most Pokemon, he does consider a good few his best friends

His best friend however is his first mate, Doro.

In his childhood, he knew Lapis and Peco.
Lapis was an Azure Rathalos while Peco was a Qurupeco.
They were all friends until Lapis, while attempting to relocate, was slain by resident hunters who thought Lapis was trying to attack their village.

Peco as a result of this, fled, as he relied on Lapis as a source of protection. This left Nio on his own with his only other friend at the time- Doro.

Nio has several people who consider him an enemy. The only man he considers a genuine, concerning enemy of his is Jay.
Jay was the name of the Elder Dragon who attempted to ail him.

Nio has a picture of his younger brother he keeps in his room. It makes him feel safer and usually eases any ill-feelings he has.

Nio though usually opting for physical combat, doesn't mind using blades. Usually only swords though, like katanas.

Nio was educated in a small group with other minks. Among these minks was Doro.

Nio grew up with his father. His mother had left just as he was born so he hardly knew her (and doesn't care either way)
His only friend as a child was Doro, who shared a similar dream of voyaging the seas.
He met Lapis and Peco, who shared similar goals, but they didn't stick around for long. Lapis died while Peco fled.

As an adult, Nio and Doro drifted apart. Doro was more of a coward, while Nio was starting his plans to set out. Nio, after several years, finally managed to convince Doro to come with him on his voyages.

On Tsuki's last voyage to the Lost Continent (before the time skip), Tsuki and Nio encountered one another. This sparked their current rivalry.
