Elodie Roxana Arcanis

Technically, as the daughter of a Baron, her full title is The Honorable Elodie Roxana Arcanis of Almerry - or Lady Almerry, to shorten the name.

Her family aren't big on their noble status, and so neither is Elodie - she prefers "Miss Elodie" rather than "Lady Almerry" or "Miss/Lady Arcanis", no matter what decorum says the proper title should be.

Scientist, Alchemist, Inventor, and Artificer - thanks to the new realm of magitech her family is involved in, Elodie is new to a new field of study and tends to wear many hats.

She works in the Almerry Factory & Workshop, which is where most of the family's engineering and development are done.

Elodie is the daughter of two esteemed scientists and inventors, renowned in their field, hailing from the Otren region. Her father, a famous civil engineer, was given a Barony title (Baron of Almerry, the name of the little plot of land they were given along with the title) after an innovation for the Imperial Army, and her mother works half the time at the University of Otren.

Once her father became Baron, he established the Almerry Factory & Workshop, where the extended family (everyone is a little bit 'mad scientist' in their own right, aunts, uncles, distant relations and all) and their employees work in manufacturing and distribution around their main products and inventions.

She is the youngest of three, with an older brother and sister, who are all successful in their own rights. So far Elodie is the only one to have not quite made a name for herself. She graduated with a masters degree in "magical mechanical" engineering (the new hybrid degree pioneered by her own mother) and has been working in her family's workshop ever since.

She still lives on the family's estate in Otren, except she has moved out to the guest house and turned the townhouse into her own little sanctuary.

Elodie is on the bigger side, more curves than the willowy frames popular among the elite, but she's also got the muscles and the strength to match from working with machinery and tools all day, and wrestling out of control magical orbs or broken down automatons.

Her hair has natural curls, kept to about the length of her center back when it's all brushed out. She usually keeps it pinned back in some way however, buns or braids or hairpins. It's almost impossible to keep her curls from frizzing out either in weather or from the amount of static energy she's around, so they're never the nice, perfectly coiffed look she would like them to be. She often wears bandanas, bonnets, or caps over top of the hair as well.

Elodie's clothing tastes are best described as "hot mess". She does generally try to be fashionable, keeping up with the trends of the day, but she isn't a fan of anything that isn't practicable and that is most of nobility fashion. She is a lover of patterns and colors, and a lover of layers - mostly out of necessity, because she ends up getting cuts, burns, or stains on much of her clothing and a cute patch hems that right up or an apron or jacket can be mended or thrown away.

She really only wears dresses when she has to leave the house, otherwise she prefers trousers and other working wear. And POCKETS. Pockets, bags, belts for holding things... Elodie sometimes jokes she's a walking suitcase, ready to pop out something someone might need at a moment's notice.

She wears glasses on a glasses chain around her neck; she doesn't need them for distance but rather for eye strain, and tries to only wear them at night. She also has a set of brass safety goggles large enough to fit over her glasses she often wears on top of her head out of sheer habit, because she pushed them up there and then forgot they were still there.

Elodie is pale in the way most redheads are, so any markings are plainly visible to see. That being said, the only real prominent markings are freckles, scattered all across her body and primarily across the bridge of her nose and the tops of her cheeks.

Thankfully, though accident prone and eager to experiment even with dangerous materials, most of the time it's only Elodie's clothes that are harmed in the process and therefore she has few marks.

Elodie is best described as a dreamer. Her head is always a little bit in the clouds no matter what she's doing. She's a bookworm -- books that weigh more than an infant are her bread and butter -- but she's not just restrained to textbooks and academia, but is also a voracious reader of action adventure stories - pirates, treasure hunting, dragons, princesses. However Elodie is one of those people who are more than content to simply read about a good adventure rather than have one herself.

She is constantly tinkering with things, constantly trying to improve them -- it can be argued that not all of her tinkering is good or even works, it's more the effort to learn and see what it can. Nothing is more beautiful than when it's broken down into its individual parts to be reassembled into something better. She is a fixer of broken things, doing her best to leave the things better than when she found them.

She is a private person by nature, a loner who prefers solitude or her own company over crowds, but she is also the first to help out if a friend needs it and is not afraid to get in and get her hands dirty. She is a lover of routine, having favorites places, favorite foods, favorite things that she always sticks with.
