"Percy" is actually his nickname; he hates going by Percival. It's a surefire way to get him angry is call him Percival.

Shelter Manager at Safe Haven Sanctuary, an estate and farm that is a bridge between the mundane and the magical, mostly operating as a animal shelter for Familiars as well as an animal sanctuary and conversation efforts for a number of species both normal and magical.

Percy thinks he's a Mage, or a Wizard; he just has always believed himself to be weak in his magic. Turns out, he is actually an Anointed, an incredibly rare human who is born with awesome powers connected to holy magic and the divine.

Magic as it's known today shares much of its early roots with an ancient and archaic version of divine power, and many of the fundamentals of both species are the same -- but many magicians with holy magic died out thousands of years ago, leaving scant few bloodlines, and much of their history has faded into myth and legend, with little lore remaining. That, combined with the fact that they are hunted by the demons, is why most of the Anointed believe themselves to be Mages, are raised like them, and die young from mysterious causes.

Percy was orphaned by the time he was 5, with a mother who died in childbirth and a seafaring father whose cargo ship went down at sea. Thereafter, he was raised under the care of Landric Kerrigan, an eccentric great-uncle who is a loved (if not exasperatedly tolerated) wizard himself.

He served as the old wizard's apprentice for much of his youth between school and other activities, and though the old man was fond of him, he also pointed out quite often how meager and weak Percy's magical ability appeared to be. Not for lack of trying to make him more impressive -- Percy endured many experiments from his great-uncle, all done from a place of love, but did nothing to enhance his talents and in fact only lowered his self esteem. Any impressive magical feats tended to come in bursts of wild, uncontrolled magic, and otherwise he was only capable of weak feats.

Knowing he wasn't cut out to be a Grand Mage like his great-uncle wanted, Percy cut out on his own way as soon as he turned 18, and ended up at the Safe Haven Sanctuary -- a home for displaced creatures, a sentiment Percy could understand wholeheartedly. He's been working there ever since in various capacities, going from volunteer to intern to caregiver up into management over the years.

Percy is incredibly uncaring about clothes. Clothes are things that are worn to prevent you from getting torn to shreds on animal claws and protect against the elements. They are to serve a purpose and are to be worn until they fall apart and then replaced.
