seeing himself succeed. being able to look back on the struggles he faces currently and realize he's overcome them. this especially applies to his music, which he struggles and suffers with incessantly. it's disheartening to compare himself to his dad and not feel like his art is that good in comparison, but he needs to persist through these issues so he can feel like it is good enough.

he's very tired and irritable. not very good traits for a cashier. has absolutely given up on keeping up that customer service personality. while it's very important to him that he works so he can consider himself successful (and like... not die) he's unenthusiastic about the job he's currently stuck in. can also be very loud about things he's passionate about, which is sometimes seen as annoying. also extremely insecure about pretty much everything (his abilities because of his desire to follow in his father's footsteps, his body and all that for dysphoria reasons, etc). struggles to accept compliments. the worst procrastinator. jesus christ this is a long list

music!! he's pretty good at both guitar and bass (though he struggles a lot writing original music). he doesn't feel talented at this, but he absolutely is.

tired and sad, basically. he's an anxious, irresponsible mess, and he's absolutely desperate to succeed in his goals, often to the point of overworking himself on a project that isn't going anywhere. he criticizes himself wayyyy too much. he is very creative, his main passion in life being his music. he's incredibly caring and affectionate towards those he loves. he's aggressively passionate about the things he enjoys, and is very loud about these passions. he is very protective of both his possessions, because of how painfully he works to get the money for them, and his loved ones, because it's important for him to have people he can trust as someone who doesn't like talking to people much. he's also a huge music nerd and will gush about his favorite music while stimming aggressively for hours

jay and milo. god he hates them. jay is just super annoying to him, always passive-aggressively bugging him about how horrible of a cashier he is (rightfully so, but it still pisses him off), and milo is just... annoying. they don't have much of a reason to hate each other, except that milo is annoyed by how much and how openly atlas hates his job (hypocritical for someone who constantly complains about having to "always deliver")

a lot of his family on his dad's side has a passion for and/or career in some form of art, so this was pretty much bound to apply to atlas as well. art in general has been very important to him since he was young because of how much he was exposed to it growing up, but he was always particularly attached to music (while this isn't his dad's main passion, he has great music taste and a ton of knowledge on music he enjoys, which he passed down to atlas. they bonded a lot over this and this is a major reason atlas is so close with his dad)

unnamed father. a painter who atlas looks up to, wanting to make him proud with his music (however, he has insecurities surrounding this). he and atlas are very close and atlas considers him his biggest inspiration

unnamed mother. they were never super close, she and his dad split up when he was still very young and he lived with his dad growing up. she built the house atlas grew up in and still lives in, which gives it that comforting feeling it has. she hasn't seen him since before he began transitioning and is actually very transphobic, but atlas won't be aware of this until he comes out to her. this is what convinces him to move in with clover
