Rose was born in the city to a powered mother and a father always missing in action, just like her grandfather. It was always a poor family and Rose had to always take what she could get. Some street groups not really liking the fact that her whole family seemed to be powered didn’t help Rose’s popularity at all. She would go to school, scared that her mother would be hurt while she was gone by the street groups that didn’t like her or her dad would die out on the battlefield. That fact evaded her for her early childhood, then came upon her when she was about 13 years old. In fact, basically the news of both arrived at the same time for her.

When Rose came back from school one day, she found her mother murdered in the living area. A bullet wound in her chest and head. It seems the non-powered supremacist group Powerskinners had enough with the Mohanjot family. In tears for basically the whole day, Rose basically took the day off of school for the next week, in remorse and hurt, hearing also during that week that her dad had gone MIA on the battlefield. Alone and helpless now, Rose took to the streets, starting her training in fighting to help defend herself from the groups that still were out to get her.

A power-sympathetic group basically adopted Rose after she was on the street for a couple days, taking her under their wing and allowing her to be much more competent in defending herself and now the group from harm. However, that didn't stay for long, as Rose's arrival in the group caused the group to be attacked much more than it was before, and the group attributed that cause to Rose's arrival, and slowly but surely turned against Rose and asked her to leave the group. With her trust in family and closest friends gone, she took to the streets again, ready to keep fighting to keep herself safe.

After a couple years of duking it out alone on the streets, a tavern in the middle of the town owned by Rolf Adam took notice of her fighting skills. Coming to her, they offered Rose shelter from the streets if she would be the challenger/sparring partner of the champion of their underground boxing ring. Being the fighting person she was, she accepted the deal: becoming one of the tavern's business gimmicks...showing off the "Shadow Boxer".

Because of this however, when her grandfather Oscar Tirich left the life of bounty hunting to try to live a new life, he figured out where his granddaughter was staying. Figuring out that he was the one guardian of Rose left to take care of her, he went down to the tavern and took her off of their hands. The tavern understood, and still allowed Rose to keep her title, but she would now be wandering around with her grandfather...until they decided to separate.
