An ordinary looking silver flute with incredible magical power that when played, its melodies can be used to control others or cause real damage through sound waves.

It is silver with an emerald gem, directly linked to the gem in Sam's amulet, and can be dismissed as a normal instrument.

While it can be played like a normal flute, it is an item meant to influence, and in some cases seize complete control of or simply just mind control, its listeners. Specific melodies can have different affects on people, and the notes played can play a sound that is damaging to both human and non-human ears.

However, it has been fine tuned and is used for the main purpose of influencing/controlling the monster that is Sam's werewolf form. The beast has been trained to have certain responses to specific notes and melodies. Songs/notes played on the flute can instantly calm the monster and keep him tame, stop him from whatever it is he's doing, summon him and also tell him how to proceed in a fight (what his master expects/wants). The flute is paramount to controlling the beast and keeping him tame when needed... And making him more aggressive when needed.

Reinare's Flute is an indestructible magical item that was handcrafted and enchanted by Akasha, Lillian and her team of long-lived mages.

It should be noted that not just anyone can play the flute and activate its magic. The only ones who can do so are Akasha, Reinare and Lillian. The flute's magic will not activate for any other users. In addition, because of its intense and specialized usage, it requires a lot of magic to charge and upkeep.
