Overview
Demonic Parasite
Parasite
A parasite forged from several demons and black blood carriers that must attach to the brain of a living host, granting them immortality and demonic abilities.
Looks
The Parasite itself will look like a softball sized gelatinous black ooze with a single demonic eye. It can form a mouth containing three rows of jagged, sharp teeth but cannot verbally speak. Its body will appear round, like a ball, with tendrils that extend out from it to use as limbs.
When attached to a host, the parasite attaches to the host's brain stem or - if the stem is protected by magic like is the case with its current host as a result of her potions - part of the brain or the optic nerve. The parasite kills off red and white blood cells and takes over the heart, using it to pump out black blood. Its tendrils extend throughout the body and can reattach to each other should a body part be chopped off.
Being a demon itself, the Parasite can whisper and influence its host. However, the host can adapt and overpower or even ignore its voices.
About a pound or two?
History
Its initial creation was 500 years ago, when the Bloodmare's were making lots of headway with their research on the Black Blood. While it's had augmentations over the centuries, it wasn't perfected and made into a proper parasite until 16 years ago. Lillian's intention was to 'gift' it to her assistant, Aerallis. However, the Tithiros sisters escaped Ma'luum before that could happen and Lillian was forced to find a new host for the parasite to continue research as intended - which Akasha was happy to volunteer for.
Abilities
This parasite is essentially a demon that grants its host demonic abilities, and is connected to her brain through an optic nerve or through the brain stem. Such abilities include self-augmentation, with the added skill to steal physical attributes from others. It also grants Regeneration and Rearrangement abilities. These are latent abilities.
Non-latent abilities include: Death Stare and True Seeing (can see auras and magical signatures), Charm and Illusions, telepathy and telekinesis, See the Fear, Conjure the Fear, and Nightmare. All of these abilities can only be used when the Parasite is active - ie when one of its hosts eyes appear demonic.
This is a visible change within one or both of the hosts' eyes. The sclera turns black, the iris becomes red and the pupil extends into a diamond or slit.
Notes
The Parasite must always have a host. If ever its host is killed or the parasite is ripped from its host's brain, it will immediately seek to attach itself to a new host if its old one has died.
It is currently unknown if the demonic parasite itself can be destroyed.
