Overview
Mitzen
City
A poor city known for its anti-government sentiments. The only reason why crackdowns have not occurred yet is because a powerful local gang is paying off the authorities.
Culture
~300,000
Areliese
The same as Caelua's laws. Police are inefficient at keeping gang violence low.
Geography
Originally built on flat, dry plains perfect for urban construction and expansion around the Velt River. Mitzen was a port city back when cargo boats used to frequent its canal system. After the establishment of the highway system, the canal largely fell into disuse except as a historical attraction.
Temperate weather for most of the year, winters regularly dip below freezing point.
About 500 miles southwest of Alkae
Infrastructure
Has access to the interstate highway system. Local roads are riddled with potholes.
Drinking water is taken from the Velt River. However, it is speculated to be contaminated by some foreign substance that is making its residents ill.
Dependent on nationwide power grid.
Hospital system is strained due to the amount of civilians coming in with cancer. Many who qualify for free healthcare are still waiting for their appointment date, and those who do not qualify nor can afford health insurance are unable to afford treatment.
The mediocre school districts barely maintains their current funding in the annual budget vote. Many successful graduates seek jobs outside of the city.
Practically nonexistent. Median wage is low due to the lack of corporate interest in the area to bring in new, higher paying jobs.
History
A city that has existed since the B.C.M. era. Many of its residents are sympathetic toward the revolution because they blame the current regime for their suffering. Older folks remember magicless family and friends who fled to Belorma due to the increasingly hostile sentiment toward them.
84 B.C.M.
Mage gang wars: With the city's lack of magic in its police force, various mage gangs established bases of operation they knew the city wouldn't be able to remove inside the slums. The gangs competed until one, the Brain Melt ruled by the Witch's Coven, remained. Once three of the Coven's members intervened, the war had been decided, and the all-female mage gang gained control over Mitzen's underworld.
