History

Established Year

Around 4300 B.C. in human time

Founding Story

The Land of Those Whom Are Glass-Born was founded by the sub-species of Hebarvian nicknamed "the Glass-Born", several millennium past, when they found themselves in strenuous harmony with the other sub-species during the Starving Days (a time of famine when an important section of Hebarv's food chain was nearly wiped out by a disease).
Desperate to feed themselves, and others that were born similarly weak, the Glass-Born gathered in a single place near the equator, claimed the territory as their own, and sealed it away with a wall constructed of trees. Gathering what little animal life remained in their new home, they spent many years cultivating it into a suitable place for all the creatures to live naturally, creating crops to feed them with.
Once established, the Glass-Born thrived, while the other Hebarvians suffered from starvation. On the realization that they could make a profit from their abundance, they opened their walls to others, but at the cost of Kedar, which was initially met with scorn, but eventually overlooked.
After the Starving Days, there was insistence from the rest that the Glass-Born drop the Kedar fee from their borders, but at the consensus of 63 out of 92 Elders of the Hebarvian Council, it was judged as unnecessary, and not illegal. Thus, the fee remains, and the territory is officially recognized as a business and "country".

Notable Wars

  • The Heb-Tor Wars (Hebarv vs. Tol-Torrn)
The war between the residents of Hebarv and the residents of the nearby Tol-Torrn, over an accidental breaking of custom in the presence of an Elder Councillor. The dispute became an all-out war when a Lov-Arren general's snide comment on apparent primitiveness was heard and relayed to another Elder Councillor. The war lasted around a decade, ending with the victory of the Lov-Arren, and a tentative peace-treaty between the two races.

-The Glass Shatterings (Glass-Born/Elder Council)
Considered something along the lines of a rebellion, the acts of several hundred rogue Glass-Born to make the Glass-Born country a new world power were perceived as a threat by the Elder Council. The following war was far more political than physical, but the Glass-Born quickly lost due to the influence of the Council.
