Overview
Founding of the Soul Guardians
The Soul Guardians were initially seeded by The Creator. She contacted Silex Amoro directly via a sort of telepathy, and asked him to found the group in the name of controlling the spread of dangerous Soul Control magic. The idea was to act as a sort of magical police force and keep things in check. (The name "Soul Guardians" was her idea.) Silex, being a devoted follower of the Creator, agreed wholeheartedly and set about his preparations.
His first step was to contact Kelkov Aerio, his trusted apprentice. The two became the first members of the Soul Guardian Council, the group's leaders, and Kelkov was instructed to invite anyone else he would trust with his life to round things out. He then brought in Addlor and Flare Modus, his two best friends; though the two were less enthusiastic about acting under the Creater's will, they were supportive of their friend's endeavors.
Things were going well, until Emelia Reragon caught wind of the plan. She was also a friend of Kelkov's, but she saw the Soul Guardians not as a burgeoning force for good, but a golden opportunity. She got Kelkov, Addlor, and Flare together, and told them they were going to follow a new plan.
Rather than fight for the Creator, the Soul Guardians would be aiming to destroy the Creator. They were to recruit as many people as possible, get them to blaspheme her name, and raise a rucks through general violence and other chaotic acts until the Soul Guardians were a household name in the worst way possible. The idea was to cause so much trouble that the Creator would be forced to come to Zeta to personally stop them and save face.
It was an insane plan to be sure, but Emelia had learned that this was well within the Creator's abilities. Once she was there, they could lay a trap, eliminate her, and take her role and powers. She was confident they could take her in a fight -- if she stood a chance against them, why would she go through Silex instead of handling things herself? And besides, Emelia had a secret weapon -- a crystal of Void Magic -- though she kept the details about it hidden from the others.
Kelkov took more convincing than Addlor or Flare, but all three of the friends were drawn in by the lure of immense power and fame. Recruitment began in earnest. Once the rumors reached Silex, he and Kelkov got into a heated argument about the betrayal, which ended in them severing ties with each other.
Emelia's plan is going swimmingly, although it remains to be seen whether the Creator has deemed them worthy of her direct attention as expected.
